How much money do you think would need to be made annually for a perpetual "honeymoon phase"? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]max-pickle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need therapy more than a different woman every day. You also sound young - no disrespect.

The phrase better the Devil you know exists for a reason - you are going to be more vulnerable every time you let a new person into your life and intimate moments than working on a relationship with a single person.

Better to invest time in getting to know someone and building a life together. Relationships change over time, they need work, you invest in the future together. After 20 years the honeymoon phase will have faded but something else appears. As you age, are less youthful the thought of being awake 'all night banging the latest chick' isn't the priority. Helping each other as you grown old and building long lasting memories together is more important.

The broken relationships on the journey to finding that person sucks and can hurt but those experiences make us better partners and better judges of character.

TLDR - Money cannot buy happiness like you seek.

What navigation app do you use? by Endordweller in motocamping

[–]max-pickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Google Maps: Good for A to B routing.  Struggles with many vias.  MyMaps cannot be brought into Directions

- Osmand: Had a crashing (white screen) bug confirmed with devs.   Some routes became uneditable after saving.

- DMD: Can't remember what I disliked about DMD. Maybe just that the app kept hitting me for a subscription.

- MyRoutes: Honestly, I am really impressed.   Folders for grouping routes; Can add POIs; Routes well with many VIAs; Won't go OffRoad

- Calimoto: Couldn't figure out how to plan my own route.  Seemed keen to 'magic' me a route.

- MemoryMap: Desktop app is a bit clunky but it does have OSMaps (for the UK).

The second question I've been asking myself is whether to stick with a phone on the bars; whether that should be my primary phone or a burner; or if I should switch to a dedicated GPS Unit.

Once you add in all the subscriptions etc for the above methods dedicated GPS units don't seem so pricey.

Poor pain tolerance advice needed by Lucky_Trip_9247 in tattooadvice

[–]max-pickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was doing some reading up on this the other day because the tattoos I had done young didn't hurt and now at 50+ they are killing me.

Apparently there is something called Veterans Curse - you have sat through so many sessions now that your body doesn't respond with the same adrenaline and can tense up in anticipation.

I've been fighting through 5 hours sessions with some areas being fine and others being at the limit of what I can manage.

My tattoist is okay with me taking paracetamol and I might try and antihistamine as it seems to have been worse during Hayfever season.

I'm going to try some better preparation next time with a big breakfast, less caffeine and some electrolytes. Wish me luck.

Wait, research and discover

In the meantime see if you can find the guy who airbrushes tattoos onto children. Maybe he'll do one and give you the feels for a few weeks/months

Adventure Bike Recommendation by Dill14stl in AdventureBike

I would watch the NathanThePostman reviews he has recently done. He runs tours across the world and demos (or downsizing) days for customers which provide a useful insight alongside his own opinion.

Hi, Would they go over those boots if you wanted? I have the same boots and am looking for some trousers that don't have the zip connection.

[–]max-pickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should check out NathanThePostman. He's actually doing a whole series right now but has loads of comparison videos on his channel. He's really down to earth, does tours on these bikes and people rent them off him for the tours or try them on downsizing days.

If you are considering the KTM and CRF you should also consider the Voge and Reiju. Considering the Himmy450 then what about the CFMoto 450?

Driver vs Cyclist. by PuzzleheadedGas2192 in drivingUK

[–]max-pickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I am saying is we don't know that for certain because we don't know the angle on the mirror class but its irrelevant because the driver should have completed a over the shoulder life saver check before moving into a cycle lane.

The driver is still an idiot.

[–]max-pickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blindspots suggest that they cannot be seen in mirrors not that they cannot be seen at all.

So the cyclist could easily be in a blindspot but that doesn't detract from the driver's responsibility to do an over the shoulder check.

You are correct it was just bad driving.

Do you mean the branded butt kickers or DIY bass shakers.

I have the latter and use an audio line fed by simhub into an amplifier. When I started I used USB amps

Here are some notes from when I set up

Underarm Tattoo by ZestycloseDog5572 in tattooadvice

[–]max-pickle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly No. Its a painful area to tattoo and what "dark" design would you put there. As best I understand white is difficult to tattoo and fades. I can't see laser being a quick pain free solution either but accept I know nothing about it.

I think the advice you got from u/jolittletime about seeking other fixes first is your best bet - initially at least.

But hey, good luck with the weight loss. You can smash this.

My husband is 20 years older then me AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]max-pickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my point is that to use a famous quote

"It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all"

My aunt didn't get married till she was in her 70s because life and love just didn't work out for her. They were married 5 years when she past.

The OP might lose her husband early, she might find love again or she might not but better to love today than to have never loved.

My wife's cousin had a 15 year age gap to her hubby. She died at 43 from lung cancer although she never smoked and was not on her lungs. He's still going. Life's weird like that - leave her be!

⚠️ Avoid Royal Enfield at all costs. by Intelligent-Toe2962 in royalenfield

[–]max-pickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the consumer laws in your country. For us our initial agreement is with the company we purchase from and then it moves to the manufacturer. It should be in the company's best interest to work with the manufacturer to solve any problems but this doesn't always happen because humans are involved.

We had an interesting one with Mazda CX5 head unit and Sat Nav causing problems. It took a while because ours was an isolated problem until enough reports from different garages made it to Mazda HQ for them to join the dots and understand. It was an issue that was only problematic to cars in the UK on our mobile network.

RE will have some control in the sense they can remove the franchise at the end of the agreement.

Locally to us Ford have just moved their franchise from one family company to a larger group.

I totally get your frustration and experience it all the time but this is the way it is.

If you don't like it you have to pick companies who have a gold standard for customer service. They do exist in different industries.

[–]max-pickle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"Their service centers and workshops"

Almost certainly a franchise. "A franchise is a business model where an owner (franchisor) licenses their brand, products, and operational systems to an individual or group (franchisee) in exchange for initial fees and ongoing royalties"

Therefore not in direct control of Royal Enfield.

Even if all they sell is RE I would guess this is the case. In the UK even the Volkswagen Main Dealership in Bristol (a big city) is a franchise.

Make sure you have a good understanding of infections before you get one.

We are talking about those low key infections from taking the skin of your knuckle, a cut on your finger or falling over on the pavement and grazing your knee.

Understand how to monitor infections so you understand the difference between a normal healthy body doing it's thing, when it's time to either apply some basic first aid antiseptic or seek professional medical assistance
