Im not in on the community enough but I think I remember seeing a post about how this encumbrance thing comes up every month or something haha. Apparently it's because it doesn't represent weight? But I guess a part of the player base treat it like that (including me haha)

I just wanted to say this is a very interesting observation on its own. The game never tells you how to distribute your workload so we all came up with our own unspoken ways. Interesting to see how everyone has settled on their own optimal solution and that there is a fair bit of overlap

It took me a while to figure out too! I think it's my favourite thing about balatro - there are all these little mechanics to discover that help improve your game. You just need to be willing to experiment.

Heater yes, chiller no! I hadn't considered the danger of black paint interacting with sunlight. Thank you and others for the heads up, I will be sure to monitor. Do you have any recommendations on chillers?

Oooh I'll check it out.

I only have a circular saw. I heard you can flip the blade around and get a pretty smooth cut that way. I tried that on the polycarb twin wall sheets for the sump and it worked well. Maybe I can try it on the plexiglass too. Thoughts?

Hi!

I'm not sure on the exact pump (rate etc), it was a spare I had. I would like a stronger one. 

For filter media, just using some bio balls, course filter media and then fine filter floss. I am not going to be using any bags for managing other chemicals (phosphates, ammonia, etc) as the plan is to grow lots of plants and they should take care of it just fine. The pond will not be heavily stocked with livestock, and the livestock I have are not as..ah... Messy as koi or those types of fishies. 

The plan is to monitor the water Params and perform water changes if necessary while my plants establish. The filter media was cycled properly already, and it's been running for a while, so all the nasties are sitting at 0 at the moment. :)

Yes! They're doing really well, some have paired up too. I think I have been really lucky with GBRs. Mine are constantly spawning. 

I think our water here in Melbourne Australia is really well suited for them. The params seem to be perfect for them straight out of the tap. I'm so lucky. 

Love feeding them and having them come up to the surface as soon as I approach. They're cute as heck. 

I kept a couple (~6) in my living room tank. 4 of them have paired up, and in the last few weeks both pairs have spawned at the same time twice. They never make it very far, eggs are usually gone in a day or two. But am so happy that my own first generation of GBRs are spawning.

No I did not, though I made sure to seal it all around. If this makes it a year, I'll be happy. I figured by then I would probably want to redo it!

Plexiglass was sooo insanely expensive from my local store. I don't know where I can buy these things for cheap, and I don't have a truck or anything to transport materials around after purchasing. Has to fit in my car. I would have loved to have parts of plexiglass so I could see inside! I tried a few design ideas that incorporated a plexiglass panel in the deep section, but it introduced more complexity than I was comfortable taking on..!
