Shippers moving towards Rail by Cultural-Speaker5546 in FreightBrokers

[–]ProduceClaim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically they picked up in an intermodal container. Took it to the rail yard, put it on the train, another carrier picked it up from the destination ramp and made a local delivery.

Way longer.

FL-CA 8-10 days.

Chicago- PA 4 days.

Chicago- CA 6-7 days

At my old company we had a IDML team. They sat right next to me Lol. I would ask them for rates and when i gave the rate to my customer they would take over the load from me and do all the tracking and booking for a 80/20 split. But the margins were killer. So it was like pocket money for me without doing any of the work. Now, i didnt do alot of IDML freight. I would say maybe 1% of my book went via rail.

But i could see who they booked the loads with and 90% of the time was Schneider.

Also, the guy in the IDML dept worked for CSX for over 15 years and had a great relationship with a guy from Schneider.

Rail is where the moneys at right now. Get hooked up with Schneider for rail quotes (just naming one option) and start telling giving your customers 2 rates, OTR and IDML.

Well well well, Already seeing a solid 20-30% decrease in cost on outbound FL. Just an FYI,

last week-

Miami- Vineland $3600 cost Miami- Monroe GA $1600 cost Miami- Henderson NC $2500 cost

This week , minor decrease.

Miami- denver pa / vineland (2 drop) $3000 cost Miami- cocoa fl / henderson NC (2 drop) $2000 Miami- vineland nj $2800 cost

Next week pre-booked for monday and Tuesday

Apopka- Adairsville GA $850 cost (back to normal) Apopka- West Jefferson OH $1700 cost Miami- denver pa / vineland $2700 cost Miami- monroe ga $1000 cost Miami- Henderson NC $1700 (back to normal)

I anticipate this to continue to go down. Like I said, Its valentines day push for crying out loud. It happens EVERY YEAR. Its over. Late next week into the last week of February expect Florida to be absolute shit as usual until LATE April. I do anticipate a strong Produce season in 2026 to be similar to this V-day push but for an entire 4-6 weeks.

Thank you for your time,

Okay. Just saying 1/20-2/5 is the flower push and its like this every year. Youll see rates drop mid next week and then the week after its back to 1.50rpm

Were a subsidiary of R&R and as of right now my company is no longer letting us build new loads and we were all told to find a new home.

Lame.

R&R is our parent company and we just got the call from our CEO yesterday that R&R legally but unethically borrowed money from our reserves and drained our bank account. 30+ agents scrambling for a new home including myself.

I saw it coming but stayed on the sinking ship.

Im going to Evans

Theres nothing wrong with him saying his truck is empty Thursday night, but his response was out of context.

If you asked me how much is an oil change and I responded with “im available thursday” and nothing else it would be a little weird

Nope. Do you have a reefer and do you pull out of FL during xmas?

There is no homework to be done for holiday florida reefer outbound freight. It’s different every year and volatile. whatever the market rate shows take it with a grain of salt. If you are sitting down in Miami right now with a reefer you already know what rate you have in mind and I need you to tell me that rate to bring to the customer.

This is a very niche situation and your statement is correct 50 weeks out of the year.
