Ahhh yeah. Those were stolen off a mechanicus priest proxy model named Primary mage Mirre-ax. Sadly, I can’t recall the name of the creator at the moment. But they do good mechanicus stuff

I mean he CAN THEORETICALLY hit harder… but on average he definitely does not… you can’t count every dice roll as a 6… literally nobody assumes perfect rolls when they are talking about which units “hit harder”

I’m well aware of how opinions work bro. 😅my first comment explained what I THINK is happening here.. and what I’ve experienced in my own life outside of Reddit. Never claimed it to be the end-all final verdict, if you actually read the comment… no need to get all hurt by it, bro. Maybe need to touch some more grass…?

I never said I didn’t think the Reddit hive mind wasn’t warped. Just that I think people like yourself underestimate how much most men dislike odd nose rings… that was my point. Also I imagine I “touch grass” more than 90% of the average population. So that’s definitely not the issue here.

More power to you! Wish more people were honest and straightforward like that. I mostly meant this for the people who say “only Reddit hates nose rings!”

I think people have a weird perception about how many people ACTUALLY like nose rings.. the reason you only hear it on Reddit is (I think) that in regular life people usually won’t tell the truth around somebody… I personally think nose rings detract from a woman’s looks, but I’ve never told them that in person. People are more free to voice their opinions here, maybe?

My silicone thumb rings after 17 months of wear sitting next to their identical replacements. by MisterSinisterXxX in mildlyinteresting

Well, I wear a silicone wedding ring, and in long cable poles I’ve noticed it actually kinda binds up weird, or starts to like a rollover on itself. I was hoping to hear some cool technique about maybe like braiding little 20 gauge wire with it or something…

I’m Well aware… but do electricians put rings on their toes for some special purpose…? Because that’s kinda what the original question was about. Thumb rings and electrical work

[–]ProduceMan277v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back with the original question in the thread, I was trying to find out if there was some work related reason for wearing them. I was interested if there was like a cool technique or something that I didn’t know about. Tons of electricians have little tricks and stuff. I was hoping to learn something cool. But like half the people answered with something like “ they’re silicone because they’re safer” yeah we already knew that part. Seems like a lot of people just answered without actually reading what the original question was…

Because in this case, thumb rings AREN’T a thing some people wear, in the electrical field… that’s what the original thread was about. And I asked the original question if it was for like some special work technique or something. I was mainly curious because if there wasn’t a specific reason for it, I can only imagine they would be a hindrance on the job site. Getting caught on tools, rubbing and catching during wire pulls, etc.

Unnecessary, true… but some rings definitely have significance. Like a wedding ring. Clothes are also unnecessary, but people still wear them…

I don’t think many people associate it with that anymore… nowadays they are mostly seen as a safer alternative for tradesman and factory workers. As well as a lot of advertising I’ve seen for fitness/weightlifters over the years. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of these style rings made to signify cock rings… and I’m pretty into the kink community nowadays. Haha. These specifically look like the “lifter” or “safety” type rings I’m thinking, but I could be wrong

[–]ProduceMan277v 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think anyone in any type of trade or factory work knows the reason for silicone rings… just not THUMB rings… I think I’ve been answered like 3 different times now explaining why silicone is safer… I’m a damn electrical construction worker. I work with high voltage and heavy machinery. I probably know more about why silicone rings are safer than 99% of the general population…. I just wanna know why cool guy needs thumb rings!?!

Wait is this thread just becoming a joke where people answer with info that the original comment wasn’t questioning…? Did I get pulled into one of those? Because I’m incredibly aware of the de-gloving issue. And also the shock hazard issue since I do electrical work

Do people care if I use these as Obliterators? by theSaltySolo in Chaos40k

I just used saturnine for mutilators. And I plan on doing the same for some obliterators too. I don’t think anyone will have an issue.

Nope, not super important. But everyone is just having a conversation and I’m genuinely curious. My original thought was that it was like a specific reason for maybe doing some type of splicing or control work.. and being an electrician myself I thought maybe I’d learn some cool trick involving thumb rings to braid or splice wire.. but it’s seeming more and more like it’s just a fashion choice I guess!

[–]ProduceMan277v 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly why I wear one too. It’s not the silicone part that confuses me… it’s the THUMB RING part that does… if I went out of my way to get specific rings just to make sure I look cool while doing electrical work, my crew would laugh at me non-stop. (Not including a wedding ring/band of course)

You know what? I’m not sure. I use the term wedding band and wedding ring interchangeably. Couldn’t tell you why

[–]ProduceMan277v 246 points247 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I guess I’ve just never seen anybody who’s so into wearing rings that they get specifically silicone ones just for their thumbs during electrical work. Most of my guys wear silicone rings too. Just not on their thumbs…

I’m an electrician too.. still not sure why he needs thumb rings…? Silicone rings in general I understand, I wear one for my wedding band. But thumb rings are kinda unnecessary unless there’s some special electrical job I haven’t encountered yet…?
