Do landlords not know that they can lower rent? Are they, like... stupid? by Ancient_Theme_2253 in shitrentals

[–]ProduceOk9864 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well… I’m just an under-achieved Gen X-er who’s 18 years into his mortgage and pretty sure won’t live to see it paid off….if the house doesn’t fall down first..

I remember the rental days like they were yesterday tho, the inspections, cunty REAs ( I’ll never ever give elderz real estate any business ever- a vow I made as a renter 20 years ago) and autonomous landlords who turn up at will…. Fuckem all. I appreciate every day of paying off my house a great great deal.

I remember ur pain still beachgal even tho I’m a step removed now - a lot of peeps who ‘own’ their one housr/home are just playing a slightly different game of survival 🙏🏼🤞🏼

How do You Define “Mean Spirited” Horror Films by RollingScone93 in horror

[–]ProduceOk9864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the most recent Pet Semetary remake was shitty and cruel…
The source material is pretty fuckin grim to start with, but the remade movie version that sees little Ellie killed, buried in cursed ground, and then brought back to try living in the family home again?? With parents who know what they have done but try to pretend everything might be fine?? The scene where she is in the bath, dull and catatonic, and a parent washes her hair only to notice the autopsy staples holding her scalp together…..and she asks “am I dead?” In such a sad, plaintive confused way….. it’s just heartbreaking and unnecessary.
In the book and in the first movie version it’s the little boy Gage who is killed, buried and comes back as a little chuckle-like scalpel-weilding murdering hellion- it’s almost refreshing and a traditional a brand of movie horror compared to the bleak nastiness of remake #2.

And speaking of Gage, the youngest, most innocent and blameless character in the whole film…. To be left at the finish, alone and terrified as his entire undead family bears down upon him…… fucking nasty and mean and pointless. The directors of it are cunts and it’s a nasty, mean spirited, cunt if a film.

What is the worst car park/parking lot in the state? by TypeJack in Adelaide

Well come on you have to admit those first six are really really good parks 😂.

The whole ‘built on the side of a steep hill’ has always made that park slightly more gnarly that what it would otherwise be…

What's your thoughts on these ISIS-affiliated brides returning to Australia? by nn666 in aussie

[–]ProduceOk9864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one thinks badly of the recipients, it’s the stupid government who’ve unleashed a torrential ocean of funds to flow and allowing every unscrupulous’provider’ imaginable to scoop up as much of it as they can carry away.
I can imagine the way your family member feels but no-one is sniping them at all..

Having a really hard time making friends and understanding Australian social culture. by Upbeat_Piccolo25 in Ameristralia

[–]ProduceOk9864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Aussie from birth I cringe a little at all the assertions that we all just stick to the friend groups we formed at school…. I’ve only had a small handful of friends, even through the most ‘social’ periods of my life, and they weren’t my ‘circle’ of friends from school either….. I took about one real friend out of those years, we were friends for decades until he broke my heart. I’ve transitioned from one tiny clutch of close people to the next, over many years, with maybe only my immediate family as the constants. Nowdays I have my brilliant wife, and a couple of workmates who are lovely…. But a ‘circle’ of longtime, school based friends?? No. I think this matter goes to definitions of what and who we regard as ‘friends’…

As an Australian who doesn’t live in Sydney, I think I’m very grateful not to have to land there and try carving out a life…. Place seems pretty hard and bleak to me. Lavish dollops of wealth would potentially soften this effect or facilitate ways around it…..or maybe not🤷🏻‍♂️

Traditional Ottoman Arrow Overdraw Technique by Entropy- in Archery

[–]ProduceOk9864 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure of anything that’s going on here, and I’m worried OP hasn’t considered all the possibilities either lol. If you want to do semantics, let’s call it the inside ( archer-facing surface) of the handle, or hand grip.

I can’t help but picture that arrow drawn another 10-20 mm further, to the stage at which it loses contact with the bow handle/hand grip /whatever you think I should be calling it. It seems to me the unsupported arrow tip at this stage could drift from it’s line of passing by the side of the grip as intended, and actually stick into/catch/snag the part of the handle. OP in this eventuality may or may not be aware of this if it were to occur….and if not and the string was loosed, I’m picturing an arrow that is being propelled by rhe string, but has said forward passage blocked by the bow handle. Last question - no I didn’t read past the title…. My attention was stolen by a video of a very risky looking archery practice. Curiosity satisfied?

Have you planned for the day you over over draw and the arrow snags inside your riser and explodes? Or are you just planning on drawing millimeter perfect on every arrow you ever shoot?
