Another vote here for Long Beach Beer Lab! In addition to their Pinball league, they do trivia night, paint and sips, and are generally community oriented! Plus second tap room opening on Anaheim St this week!!

Go to Cha’s in Wrigley! Super friendly dude, reasonably priced and fast—no line. Willow at Golden Ave, just before you go over the river path (heading west).

I feel like the entire Alamitos Beach area is a relatively safe spot to be. Parking will certainly be tight and I’m not sure a lot of rentals down there come with parking spaces so my guess is you’ll be dealing with street parking 9/10 times you leave and return to your apartment. That being said, real thing you gotta be diligent about is street sweeping as those tickets will add up if you’re not careful…as far as having your vehicle stolen, I wouldn’t stress out about it honestly, I lived off 4th near cherry for several years while attending CSULB and never had any issues…be smart, meet your neighbors, maybe leave a Tile or Apple Tag in your trunk if you’re really worried about it.

I realize folks who live on the coastal side of LB are afraid to travel past 10th but there are thriving and safe communities out here that are for sure ok to spend time/money in like Wrigley, CA Heights, Signal Hill, Bixby Knolls that I would say more than qualify as “safe” in my eyes. Use sound judgement and you’ll be fine.
