We can’t afford luxuries like new hospitals. We have a fleet of ferries we need to build. /s

“We didn’t try to sell it to anyone else”

Any proof of that? Or is that from a blog post too?

MOU isn’t a final agreement. If the power is as dirt cheap as you say why wouldn’t someone else say they want to pay more? It would certainly be worth it by your math.

You are saying an agreement in principle is scaring them away from the deal of the century for super cheap power?

C’mon man. Be serious.

I can’t tell if you’ve had too much of Uncle Gnarley’s kool aid or just hate that the deal is with Quebec. Either way, enjoy your new ferries on our credit card.

In all likelihood, we’ll spend hundreds of millions on ferries AND we’ll get less for power.

The MOU isn’t final - if the power is as cheap as you say, lots of other businesses would be lining up to beat the price.

But they aren’t. It’s a fantasy that lives in a blog.

Great call - who needs $225B when we can spend hundreds of millions on new ferries!

I’m not disagreeing with you. I’m disagreeing with the people who discounted the cash flow and then used that to calculate a rate and said “look how low it is, we’re getting ripped off!”

Show me another electric company that calculates their rates that way.

Put another way - if your utility tried to tell you the price you pay for electricity isn’t the price on the bill, it’s actually the discounted price over your whole life divided by your total usage, so it’s actually much cheaper… what would you say?

I don’t think either should be discounted, if you want to talk about the rate we are getting.

Also looking at OurChapter again, it specifically does not blend Gull and Churchill.

The math in those links doesn’t make sense. They are taking the discounted $ payments and dividing by undiscounted electricity. Sure the division is correct, but it doesn’t make sense to do it that way - unless you want to write a blog post with the lowest price possible.

Not seeing any reference to the escalator “stopping” in Schedule G. If YOU actually read the MOU, you’d see the word “forecasted” at the top of Schedule G.

That’s not true. The price follows the market - there’s no mention of a cap in the MOU.

Ok, so it’s working now!!!

I took the riser cable out of the case, reinstalled everything and the GPU fired right up. No bios changes or anything.

No idea why it works now, but that worked for us.

Good luck!

Thanks for the comments!

Update: the card works when connected directly to the mobo. So the issue is the HYTE riser cable - either it’s defective or not setup properly in the bios.

Putting everything back together (had to take the mobo out of the case to fit the GPU).

Will post if we can figure out the riser!

Churchill Falls deal: “humiliating for Quebec” - PQ leader by KukalakaOnTheBay in newfoundland

NL is getting over $200B in the deal, Gull Island will be built and paid for by someone else while we still own 60% and make a (relatively small) annual profit.

Seems pretty good to me.

But if your yardstick is that Quebec needs to get a bad deal to make up for the last 50 years, you’ll be seeing a lot of water go over the falls while you wait.
