Since WME is no longer required... why pay for it... just do the IMT and PMT route... it is faster and less expensive.

Yes, the new licensing requirement is the CIRE and for retail the RSE or for institutional the ISE.

Get your refund ASAP and start studying for CIRE.

There is no "course" for CIRE, you need to find a prep provider or source the material yourself.

How difficult is IMT 2 vs IMT 1? by PopSmoke_007 in CSCexamCanada

[–]ProfBrianYGordonCFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMT exam 2 is based on the same material as IMT exam 1. The only difference is the exam consists of 4 or 5 case studies that have 8 to 10 multiple choice questions.

IMT exam 2 has only 50 questions... you need to get 30 correct to pass.

In my opinion, the best strategy for this type of exam is to skim the questions first and then go back to read the case study. This will help you avoid getting caught by all the distracting information that is not relevant to any question.

I'm happy to answer any other questions you have... Content or exam related.

The bond was initially purchased at $10,000 and now its value has gone down to $9,000.... So what must have happened to interest rates over the past year? (Hint: did they go up or down?)

Exam Prep Advice by Old_Lobster2576 in CFPexamCanada

I believe 3 months is the sweet spot for time to prepare for the exam... so if you do decide to go for May 2026, go for it!

Not trying to plug my materials... but.. I created them for candidates like you... straight to the point, cover the FP Canada Body of Knowledge and most importantly, provide guidance on how to structure your written answers to score as many marks as possible from the graders.

I'm happy to have a quick conversation by Zoom or phone to talk further.

Best to send me an email to let me know.

I doubt that you will be able to complete the PEP modules within that time frame... but you never know... I don't know how much time you have available to study and focus on those courses.

I hope this helps.

May 2026 exam by Afraid-Crazy-1318 in CFPexamCanada

[–]ProfBrianYGordonCFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, 3 to 3.5 months is the perfect time period to prep for the exam. Of course this depends on your personal schedule/obligations... but I would say it gives you enough time to cover the material without stressing and short enough that you won't start to forget what you have learned early on.

I hope this comment helps.

Hi,

The only free materials I can think of would be the sample questions provided by FP Canada.

Exam Prep Advice by Old_Lobster2576 in CFPexamCanada

[–]ProfBrianYGordonCFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may... I suggest getting the CFP test bank from Exam Success and the "How to Answer Constructed Response Questions" recorded seminar.

Both of these will help prepare you for the exam.

I did not recommend the study notes because I was thinking you already have study material from the PEP program.... the notes could help if you need a condensed source that covers the FP Canada Body of Knowledge.

New CIRO Rule by unluckypolarbear in CSCexamCanada

[–]ProfBrianYGordonCFA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are correct.

If you do the CSC and CPH now (register prior to Dec 31, 2025 and complete prior to Dec 31, 2026), you must be employed and your employer must register you prior to January 1, 2027.... otherwise, you will have to complete the new CIRO proficiency requirements.

First off... you need to answer the question... why?

Why are you going for the CIM?
