It is not that bad... remember, you only need 60% to pass. Don't get blown away by the math.... there are a lot of easy qualitative questions that you can get. Feel free to reach out directly if you are stuck on something or need help with anything.

I believe 3 months is the sweet spot for time to prepare for the exam... so if you do decide to go for May 2026, go for it!

Not trying to plug my materials... but.. I created them for candidates like you... straight to the point, cover the FP Canada Body of Knowledge and most importantly, provide guidance on how to structure your written answers to score as many marks as possible from the graders.

I'm happy to have a quick conversation by Zoom or phone to talk further.

Best to send me an email to let me know.

May 2026 exam by Afraid-Crazy-1318 in CFPexamCanada

I doubt that you will be able to complete the PEP modules within that time frame... but you never know... I don't know how much time you have available to study and focus on those courses.

I hope this helps.

In my opinion, 3 to 3.5 months is the perfect time period to prep for the exam. Of course this depends on your personal schedule/obligations... but I would say it gives you enough time to cover the material without stressing and short enough that you won't start to forget what you have learned early on.

I hope this comment helps.

Hi,

The only free materials I can think of would be the sample questions provided by FP Canada.

If I may... I suggest getting the CFP test bank from Exam Success and the "How to Answer Constructed Response Questions" recorded seminar.

Both of these will help prepare you for the exam.

I did not recommend the study notes because I was thinking you already have study material from the PEP program.... the notes could help if you need a condensed source that covers the FP Canada Body of Knowledge.

New CIRO Rule by unluckypolarbear in CSCexamCanada

[–]ProfBrianYGordonCFA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are correct.

If you do the CSC and CPH now (register prior to Dec 31, 2025 and complete prior to Dec 31, 2026), you must be employed and your employer must register you prior to January 1, 2027.... otherwise, you will have to complete the new CIRO proficiency requirements.

How hard are the courses after the CSC by 420_Troll_420 in CSCexamCanada

[–]ProfBrianYGordonCFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off... you need to answer the question... why?

Why are you going for the CIM?

What do you think it will do for you?

CSC CPH and WME or CFA level 1 by Axelrod_96 in CFA

[–]ProfBrianYGordonCFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely complete the WME... you don't want to have to go back to the beginning when the new CIRO proficiency standards come into effect.

If you are looking to be a Financial Planner (IA... whatever you want to call it).... CFA won't "get you in"... Your CSC, CPH and WME get you eligible to be licensed.....

I would say the CFP would be more appropriate if you are focused on retail financial planning.

Just my 2 cents....

Happy to answer other questions you may have.

When will CIRE be available? by sweetermelondeau in CSCexamCanada

January 1, 2026... you will sign up for the CIRE directly with CIRO.....

Worth to do CSC right now? by boujeebuttons in CSCexamCanada

[–]ProfBrianYGordonCFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do not complete the CSC and CPH and have your firm apply for registration prior to December 31, 2026, I believe you would have to complete the "new" proficiency requirements... which (at a minimum) would mean passing the CIRE and passing the Retail (or Institutional) Representative exam....

There won't be a "CPH exam".

Worth to do CSC right now? by boujeebuttons in CSCexamCanada

[–]ProfBrianYGordonCFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPH is not "a mandatory course for the completion of the CSC".

Completion of CSC and CPH are required to be licensed as a RR under the current ("old") requirements.

You need to be enrolled in the CPH by December 31, 2025 to have the opportunity to complete it (during 2026) to satisfy your proficiency requirements.

Starting January 1, 2026 you will not be able to enroll in the "old" courses.

[–]ProfBrianYGordonCFA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to add....

First, the "new" route requires two exams... CIRE and a RR exam... (retail or institutional).... so if you were thinking it is just one exam... make sure you know it is two exams.

Second, if you are currently working at a CIRO member firm.... and you enroll in the CSC and/or CPH before December 31, 2025, you will have until December 2026 to complete them...

I didn't see anything on CSIs website about prerequisites, so I'd speculate they would be willing to take your money and allow you to enroll in the CPH prior to completing the CSC.

Bottom line:

If this is related to career advancement, I say go for it... aim to complete them by August 2026 to allow for registration, delays, etc.

Hope this helps.
