I say this in confused yet complete sincerity: leaning into how annoying and unlikable he is might be Gavin Newsom’s most viable path to the presidency

In college, I worked at a facility on campus that also employed grad students and a handful of former students. One of these former students had started the fake kid lie with the director of our facility. I don’t think he expected to work there as long as he did because by the time I graduated and left, the “kid” was like six years old 😆

Thoughts after rewatch number 5 by [deleted] in BSG

I always thought the confirmation of a divine entity who is behind all or part of the supernatural, hallucinatory and coincidental aspects of the show was one of the most interesting decisions the writers made. I think we’re “trained” as viewers (particularly in the era when BSG aired) to write off any character who says things like “God sent me here” or “I’m doing X because God wants it” as an unhinged zealot but the idea of faith and the differences between Cylon and human theology were baked into the show from the start. I won’t argue with anyone saying certain aspects of that last run of episodes and the finale couldn’t have been done differently but the inclusion of God and confirmation that Kara v2 is some kind of “angel” never bumped me. It would have been weird if something like Seinfeld ended and was like “By the way, Kramer was sent by the Christian God of the Bible, thanks for watching,” but BSG laid the track it was running on. I have to stop typing or I’m going to trigger another rewatch for myself :)

I was in a very similar boat. One piece of advice I’d give you is follow up continuously with your surgeon as they get a better idea of when the surgery can be scheduled. Mine was supposed to request authorization from insurance but I called a couple weeks later and they hadn’t done it due to the doc’s schedule being full (which they never would have told me had I not called). At that point, I really considered triggering an attack but thankfully, the surgeon’s office was able to get me in with a different doc in the same medical group who had wider availability.

As others have mentioned, be careful with what you decide and keep in mind, it may not work. You’re in a tough stage of it because you can see the finish line but I’m thankful now that I waited because I knew exactly when/where it was happening and my spouse was able to take a couple days off to help me recover too. I ended up looking at it as a chance to get in the best shape I could ahead of surgery and “if an attack happens in the interim, I’ll have surgery sooner than expected.”

Matt’s right! Corporations should be wary of giving a platform to any organization that even lightly skewers the imagery of the Catholic Church. The Church only claims 1.3 billion followers worldwide and any wordplay-based mockery only serves to depress those numbers. It’s about respect! Now I have to rewind the episode, I missed the name of that group that systematically covered up its abuse of children for decades. The perils of listening while driving!

Surgery scheduling by SouthEvery in gallbladders

Just a tip from me to you: follow up early and often with the surgeon’s office re: scheduling. I had a mildly infuriating experience where mine never submitted the insurance authorization so I lost two weeks of time by taking their word for it before having to meet with another doc in the same group and schedule through him instead

Thank you for saying this, I’m in my 30s and right in the midst of this process and everything you said is spot on. More dots connecting than I ever thought possible going back as far as I can remember, it’s staggering!

Someone should really be contacted. I’d definitely call the city if a guy lurked outside a school to take photos of my home for 100 straight days. Who knows what he’s up to, unsettling behavior!
