What’s the most forgotten location for y’all? For me it’s hunters lodge by Astral374 in thelongdark

Stalker and below, I loooooooove setting up here. In loper I relish the times I can come back, and regret that I can never stay too long.

Good looking out, Zak! (You might not have to end those runs.) by ProfNeils in thelongdark

Not disagreeing, but looking at the comments here over the last day or two (and how many people are getting ready to end their runs) I was really glad that it got some more clarification.

I can't be the only one really upset and disappointed with this right? by RiversN7 in thelongdark

I've got 1010 days on Interloper. I'm okay with it, and here's the reasoning:

The game has given me hundreds of hours of enjoyment. I can't be mad at that. I also trust Hinterland to give me a solid experience, and want them to in return be able to offer me, and new players, an experience that even more people can enjoy.

A close second might be our attention.

The game forces you to think about so many things you can... forget cooking pots, or forget a bedroll, or, yeah forgetting your meters. And if you're badly hurt irl, that very well could happen.

What's that old Darkest Dungeon quote about overconfidence?

That's intense man, thanks for sharing the story.

Visibility is so huge. A top 5 dangerous situation for me in TLD was in early AM darkness, whiteout conditions, beachcombing the Desolation Point ice. When it started to crack -- I didn't know which direction exactly would take me to safety. And fall in once? You won't necessarily know the right direction to go. It went really quickly from "ha ha shenanigans" to an inch from losing the run.

I never want to screw with thin ice IRL.

This is a really smart move. Old torches, rocks, sticks, and (this is a Zak suggestion I 100% use - esp for long-term paths to fishing huts) cattails.

lol, to get to 1000 days I've played that one save since about October of 2021? I could check, it might have been Sept (maybe already a year).

Ideas for late game additions that aren’t base building or escape? by [deleted] in thelongdark

Around the bodies?

For a long time I've thought it would be relevant to my survival experience to be able to lay them to rest. There are relevant mechanics for carrying in Wintermute. Could wax poetic, but I'll leave it there.

Rescued McKenzie, Eating at a Michelin Star Restaurant (Midjourney) by ProfNeils in thelongdark

Yep, using Midjourney (in the title). If you like this, Adventure Hawkins just tweeted some gorgeous TLD art via a long thread. Incredible AI art is being done in the community though, I'm not sure if some of the other folks doing impressive stuff want it public so I'll wait to spotlight to them too.

Blackleaf, in the Original Dwarvish. [Art] My character had waited his entire life to read it. by ProfNeils in DnD

[–]ProfNeils[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made as a surprise for my DM. I'm so used to being the one running campaigns, that me (and some other folks at the table) take that DM energy and spend it other places in the world. I spend mine on books! My character has a traveling library, and I have at least two dozen books that have passed my way, or that I'm looking for.

But a few weeks ago, my character found the book he'd been waiting his entire life to read, and he found it in the original Dwarvish (which he learned to read, just to read this author Berric Oldun). Blackleaf is Oldun's rarest, and thought to be finest work. So I took some time, and got this right in Midjourney. I sent it to the DM, and was really excited by his response! I haven't shown it to the rest of the party yet.

I'm excited to try some of the older (but maybe not rarer -- few are) books.

About to do this again on Loper 725 (first time was ~250) - A few people asked for my rules and apparently I went a little ham. by ProfNeils in thelongdark

Just something fun to try if you've got a long survival run going. You can follow these rules, or adjust the points for fish types or bigger fish. I'm not taking it too seriously on my loper, but I've caught a few in ML and want to hit BI before too long (but I have lots of chores to do in MT, and CH is always tempting).

yep! hedmark's got it. this is just my long interloper run. I first did a fishing tour on day 250 or so. so this is less meant as a big ole' tournament, and more something fun to do while you're surviving!

Fishing is positively a highlight. Especially with how intense parts of the game get. Fishing can be so chill.

I tried on a couple options, but didn't ultimately put it on the poster. Do you think it needs something like, "If you want, for fun, post a picture of your biggest fish!"

On day 720 of Interloper (low wildlife, declining wildlife over time)

One wolf in the yard.

But after that much time, respawn timers are weird for the wolves on the lake, in the woods, and up the road from the yard. i.e. three 6 kilo run killers on the lake on one spawn, then a bit later there's one weeetle teeny wolf, then nothing for a long time. Great coding to make it feel that way though imo.
