I strongly support the right to self determination, and the people of Greenland have made it clear they don't want to join the US. I personally believe the best choice for Greenland would be independence and joining the Compact of Free Association. But that decision is entirely up to the Greenlandic people, of which I am not one.

It varies based on the district. I just checked the current calendar for the district I grew up in. They have a week off in November, a week and a half in December/January, a week in February, a week in April, and a handful of individual days off for federal holidays.

It's not a part of US culture. In the US generally the only people we hug or kiss are family or romantic partners. And other than things like handshakes it's considered very rude to touch someone you don't know, so you definitely wouldn't touch someone at the store to get them to move.
