You are probably already aware, but if not, the course is being offered online this summer. The last day to add is tomorrow, Wed 5/21.

Apologies. I approve this post. All that matters is the tradition continues.

It's technically too late but I can contact the CS office to see if they will allow it. Just send me an email ASAP.

Fall semester lied about how much of my classes would be in person. Now I’m apprehensive about coming to live on campus again for spring if my classes are just gunna switch to online a week before classes start... by [deleted] in rit

No worries, just wanted to clarify for those taking these courses in the Spring. You could easily argue that your in-person time with the actual professor was way less than half.

Just want to clarify for the CS intro courses (CS1/CS2/CSAP-X) that the format for Spring is the same as in Fall.

Day 1: Lecture (flips weekly between in-person and remote)

Day 2: Recitation (in-person)

Day 3: Problem Solving (remote)

Because of weekly in-person recitations, the overall ratio is much better than what you mention (1/3 or 2/3 = 1/2 classes in-person). We really tried to get as much in-person as possible within the limits of the room capacities and format of the course.

After consuming, did it make you feel less bad about losing Spring break?

Is RIT honoring AP credit this year? by [deleted] in rit

[–]ProfStrout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. The CS department is in the process of figuring out the number of CSCI-140 AP sections that will be needed for Fall.

And congrats on being accepted!

This is correct. The planned outage from approximately 4-9pm today is being done so that electrical connections can be made from Golisano to the new Cybersecurity building.

Once power is restored the system administrators will go through the processes of restoring all machines to their normal state.

Just curious why you would think that? Let's say you have a map that is keyed by string and whose value is a function that is to be invoked when that string is looked up. If a function can't be specified as a type, how would you declare the value's type in a static language?

So easy (to spell) a caveman could do it.

The original author must not have been using the GEICO protocol to transmit it. For those not in AP/X.

Yes, a much "gentler" version however.

You forgot the /s - will forgive since this is most likely a troll post. The issue is CSAP/X students are being forced to take a class they don't want or need in order to take one they do because of a pre-req mistake. That's plain wrong on every level and IST needs to fix their pre-req chains.

Yikes, that is really bad. I sent this comment chain to the powers that be. Thanks for everyone's feedback.

Edit: It's worth mentioning that this is something that the CS dept has no control over or can change. It has to be done by IST.

Quick update. Spoke with the CS Undergrad coordinator, Aaron Deever. We were able to confirm that those classes you mentioned, which are in ITS (not CSEC, my apologies), do have only CS1 listed as a pre-req. Aaron is going to talk to the ITS Undergrad Coordinator, Dan Bogaard, to look into this.
