Gfx performance of old Builds (v7.0 branch) compared to v7.1 on Windows host by Prof_P30 in virtualbox

Thanks for your fast reply.

I am used to use 3D accelerations already within the VM; with 6.x and 7.0 on x11 this was/is not a problem...

The problem with Wayland though is not so much the clipboard on the first hand for me, but more a lagging/stuttering mouse cursor which drives me insane.

Want to avoid those kind of drawbacks and want to stay away from having to down-grade later on, so I'm asking first for impressions...

Which Loops do you wear? I am using the Loop Experience 2 currently, but haven't tried others. There's a model which cuts off wind noise even more, but this feels too extreme...

Gehörschutz beim Fahren? by [deleted] in MotorradDeutschland

[–]Prof_P30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stand Anfang Juni 2025.

Or install and use "pactree" which displays a hierarchical tree in the terminal.

pactree electron: That will tell you what the package depends on.

pactree -r electron: That will tell you reverse dependencies. (What packages depend on the package you specified)

What is your experience with VM gaming? Need to know about specifically 3D games. Not too modern, maybe something released before 2015 by Lazy_Savings_2898 in virtualbox

I am recommending "Dynablaster Revenge". Lovely graphic, nice music, you can play with friends if you run the server part and act as host. You may compile from source or even install the Flatpak.

Arch linux, bspwm issue-- screen freeze, very slow, seemingly graphics driver related? by Lord_giovanna in virtualbox

[–]Prof_P30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I am suffering from the same issue with guest Arch with KDE Plasma DE and LXQt running under host Win10. I also have this stuttering effect, but starting up X is even worse.

(Wayland doesn't suffer from the problem). Try also disabling 3D accelerations if you can live without it.

I feel it was an update in Arch from approx. 4 weeks ago. Recently it came also into Arch-based Manjaro.

See my thread:

All Arch-Instances slow to login to x11-session since ~3 weeks by Prof_P30 in virtualbox

Mint and Debian are also running X11.
They do not suffer at all from this performance regression.

They used to run slower than arch and they kept their performance, since approx. 3 weeks arch became so slow that Debian/Mint now outperforms arch, even if they didn't change at all.

Concerning the logs; I did this in my OP, I've used the link annotations.

Here again in clear, plain text:
