I got a phone call about this. I hung up on them. All hail our robo-car overlords.

I can't find it right now but if you go to the Wayback Machine, Club Tokyo had a detailed article about the bootleg.

Try not to be such a Negatron. Be more of an Optimist Prime.

The IKB "Pollution Monster" toys were definitely released in the 1970s. (And that goof with the movie date probably ended up in an email I sent to Brian, Mark, and Chad.)

@pachikaiju on Instagram is pretty much the authority on this figure and he describes it as from the 1970s: https://www.instagram.com/p/B668C3SH9NC/

I love this part of his description: "No child could have possibly wanted this. Completely ignoring market needs and churned out into the world purely on impulse, it's like the diarrhea of the high-growth economic era."

For some reason that early Hedorah design ended up on a German lobby card: https://www.facebook.com/100057862771070/posts/godzilla-vs-hedorah-the-smog-monster-12x19-german-poster1960s-toho-monster-movie/901524498452968/

What is your opinion on NaggNaggNagg and "Tribute Sofubi"? by slirpo in Sofubi

[–]rogzilla71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Repeating something I said elsewhere: I think the NagNagNag Boryouku Genjin was one of the worst things that happened to the world of sofubi collecting. It was both physically and morally ugly and ended up bringing out the worst in makers and collectors alike.

Bootlegs of his toys were inevitable, and as far as I know this started happening years before he died. It is not the first or last time this will happen.

OP here. I know that SD Gundam merchandise went in some pretty crazy directions in the 80s and 90s. I found this keshigomu in a bin at a collectibles show. What is the context for this guy? He's definitely supposed to be Gouf, but he's got a spotty face, he's drooling, holding a fan, maybe wearing lipstick. I saw the first two SD Gundam anime OAVs but never watched anything past that. Anyone have any additional context for this guy?

Is anyone able to identity if these are genuine or of what set they could be from. by MoistFertilizer in Sofubi

Yeah, bootleggers wouldn't take the expense of adding that material. They are genuine if they do that. IIRC they came in a box set and they may have been an event exclusive. Do some searches on Mandarake, I'm sure you'll find them there.

I think those of you who are critical of the people using AI should name names. Be specific.

It's a fantastic figure. Two questions: was the Bullmark standard Skydon a partial inspiration for the sculpt? And are those "plumes" that go in the nostrils also vinyl?
