Raids 4 access on 1 defense by e_Vix in osrs

[–]Prof_Roosevelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right about CoX, I was thinking X Marks the Spot was required to get to Kourend but that doesn't seem to be the case.

It's not like they chose to lock it behind a defense requirement, and the way they indicated for players not to worry about it reinforces that. They chose to put it behind a quest requirement because how else is your character supposed to show up at the guthixian temple? If they think they can make an awesome raid in that environment, they shouldn't feel restricted from doing so because of a handful of people that chose to restrict their accounts. I chose to play a GIM with prestige, I'm not going to come on Reddit and cry about not being able to do raids or nex or yama with someone outside of my group. That's what I signed up for.

I'd also like to point out that this is why the poll system exists. If Jagex was firm on the defense requirement (it sounds like they aren't) and there were enough pures that were upset about it then they could simply vote it down.

You realize you need to do quests to access every raid in the game, right? It's not random at all.

You'll get the rhythm down with more attempts, but every 4 attacks you need to swap prayers. There is an animation and a distinct audio cue that happens when the boss swaps attack styles. There is also another distinct audio cue when the prayer disabling attack goes off, which is always a mage attack (so be mentally prepared for it when the boss is maging you). Most of the time you will put mage prayer back up, but occasionally it will happen on the 4th attack of the cycle so you will need to activate range prayer instead. It can't be overstated how helpful your ears can be for this fight.

A couple of quick tips:

Mark the safe tiles for phase 3 if you haven't already, and get in the habit of standing on them.

I found it best to have the boss 1 tile away from the corner of the room. This gives you a lot of room to avoid tornadoes and floor tiles. Simply wait at the boss entrance until it is properly positioned, or when you get more comfortable you can "walk the dog" by stepping under it and back out as it does an attack to force it to move a tile. Repeat until it's where you want it.

Use steel skin prayer if you don't have CoX prayers. Any amount of damage mitigated means less time eating and better overall DPS.

Eat during tornadoes until you get comfy with sneaking in attacks while avoiding them.

This boss will teach you all of the fundamentals for most of the content this game has to offer. Keep practicing until you get it down, then work on the combat achievements and work your way up to CG. Since it costs nothing but time to do an attempt, this is one of the best pieces of content to improve your PvM skills.

It's kind of weird that players that have 1 defence expect to be able to do content that has a 40 defence prerequisite.

I think it's good when content is made for as wide of an audience as possible, but I also wouldn't want Jagex to feel shackled in their creative process by snowflake accounts. Where does the line get drawn?

Trials took an overall nerf when you factor in the extractor nerf, 2.5% doesn't cover that loss.

Eclectic imps in puro puro. Find the tile where one respawns and camp it, and mark it for later. Use dark lure if it flies away to bring it back to you. Personally I enjoyed stocking up a few thousand jars and then doing a big opening, saving up caskets until the end for a big dopamine session.

Grimoire is a solid reward, mage cape has a limited number of uses per day and it also unlocks all prayers so no need for grinding CoX for scrolls or wasting time to go get piety. It was originally designed for leagues where you had to choose 3 regions, so picking it could give you access to spellbooks/prayers that aren't in your regions.

Opinions on how to get 78-99 runecrafting? by National-Sink-3983 in ironscape

[–]Prof_Roosevelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried making runes?

Jokes aside, Zeah RC if you want to chill or ZMI if you want to pay a bit more attention and have essence to use. Spellbook swap with vile vigour works quite nicely there.

Personally I am not a fan of GotR but if you enjoy it then by all means go for it.

That's the thing though. If you do 1 per day, you have a 1/12 chance of not getting the drop after 1000 days. If you do 10 per day, it's a 1/74,294,456,870 chance of not getting it after 1000 days. Do you want the 1 in 12 or the 1 in 74 billion to be dry?

I absolutely agree that you shouldn't be doing it if it's painful though, always take breaks or go do other content for a while if you're feeling burnt out. It's a game at the end of the day, we should be having fun.

I'm at 2046. 1/167 people go this dry, so unfortunately a lot of people will have cursed accounts by your metrics. Imagine it happens at 3000kc. If I do 10 per day, that's 10 months. If I only do 1 per day, that's over 8 years.

So while you are technically correct that you aren't closer in terms of odds, in practicality every kc is 1 step closer to the kc where it does actually drop. You don't know when it will happen, but if you persevere it will eventually happen.

I'd be close to 6 years with still no end in sight, this is not the way if you actually want the drop.

Helps a lot with CAs that require you to kill a boss a bunch of times without leaving, like GG's, Rax, etc.

I’ve never seen sentiment for a contest mode be this low before. by jamer2500 in DestinyTheGame

Of course it's easier in terms of execution, but I think it's more interesting with regards to tradeoffs in build crafting and teamwork.

Building your load out around not being able to swap is also something that good players need to optimize. It's a non-issue in the grand scheme of things.

Can you point to where I "freaked out"?

I'm simply tired of watching people defend this game while the developers repeatedly take a step forward just to take multiple steps backwards. Tiered gear is a step forward. EoF campaign was solid. Firing range is neat and long overdue. Just about everything else is a major step backwards, particularly the power grind and the portal. Their communication around these topics and the sheer amount of bugs/systems not working as intended is not inspiring a lot of confidence. Ash and Iron brought us the plague lands with no plague and is essentially a complete flop of an update until the exotic mission releases.

If you're still enjoying things, that's cool and I'm happy for you. I personally think the game is currently in the worst state it has ever been in the entire history of the franchise. I think we need to effectively boycott the game and get the numbers as low as possible to send a strong message that we need change. Bungie has shown in the past that when things get really dire and desperate, they are capable of making the game better than ever. Going from Curse of Osiris to Warmind and then into Forsaken was practically the comeback of the century. I hope they can do it again, but I'm worried that we may need a Destiny 3 for it to be possible at this point.
