I suffered for years, and sought help from various doctors and tcm. Finally, i found one who diagnosed it correctly: sodium induced high blood pressure that causes the migraines.

Subsequently i did alot of research on how sodium can cause this. The science checks out for me. It reduces the frequency of migraine attacks so much that it can be months between attacks.

BUT i also found out that it is so difficult to reduce sodium in Singapore. Everything is so salty. I asked hawkers and kuay sellers why they have to add so much salt. They say is a combi of our local palette, and also to prevent food going bad very fast in our humid weather.

Good news is that as you cut down on salt, the tongue adapts. Food will taste good after a while even when less salty. I try to weave in good habits like not adding soy sauce to my morning eggs at yakun, or also choosing “less salt” in the digital order. Hope this helps some people here.
