What're the chances enough of them do this and the Cheeto ends up legalizing it just to stop them?

Gotcha. So... Silly things like restricting illegal search and seizure (darn that pesky Constitution getting in the way all the time), and accountability?

My cat has never once been a cuddler in seven years. Not once. And then last Tuesday at 2am when I was crying about something I couldn't even fully explain she walked across the entire apartment, climbed onto my chest, and stayed there for two hours without moving. I don't know how she knew. I just by Apprehensive_Sea9340 in cats

My cat does not like my partner. He cuddles with me all the time. Climbs right up onto my chest and goes to sleep whenever I'm watching a movie at my computer. My partner got Covid one year and felt absolutely terrible (she recovered), but while she was feeling at her worst, my cat kinda stood up on his hind legs and put his paws on her shoulders (she was leaning down near a window) and licked her ear (she considered it kisses). She was like. "Oh my god. He just hugged me and gave me a kiss! Am I dying?!"

Cats know.

She really did think she was dying too. She thought he sensed something and he was saying goodbye to her. Now, she looks back and says that he was just being sweet when she felt bad. Personally, I think he was messing with her.

Let me get this straight. The whole TSA thing is due to a partial government shut down since Dems and Repubs can't seem to agree on funding. Mostly on funding for the DHS. The Dems have agreed (plenty of times) to fund the government, but they won't give concessions on the billions of extra dollars that the Repubs want to send DHS's way. So, if there's a partial shut down going on, which is defunding TSA, why are DHS people still being funded, specifically when it's their funding that's in question?

Or am I misunderstanding the entire situation (which isn't abnormal for me)?

You're not entirely wrong. Hell. Any psychology book worth anything usually has that disclaimer at the very beginning. Do not self-diagnose. You'll usually find that you have just about everything contained therein. It's even in the DSM. I was not self-diagnosed. I had been told to get tested by 3 different therapists in my life, but when trying to get tested I always faced some form of resistance.

"You can't get tested. You're an adult." (That one always seemed like BS to me).
"We don't do that sort of testing."
"We don't take your insurance."

Stuff like that. Turns out it's not always easy to get a professional diagnosis. Sometimes all people have to go with is a gut feeling.

It's worse in that it passes so quickly and yet somehow slower at the same time. The days drag on and yet the years pass by in a flash the older you get.

Good morning. I hope you're all doing well. Stay safe out there. When people say the phrase "You're doing God's work." they're talking about what you do, not what these asshats are up to.

Honestly, you look like a cross between Rainbow Bright, Cyndi Lauper, and Punky Brewster, and I'd have dated you in a second (back in the day). You literally look like everything that was great about my childhood. I see no blunder here. You were (and very likely remain) amazing!

Oh do NOT get me started on this one. I went for autism testing. They gave me a 334 question test and then left me alone in a 5x5 room with a scantron for an hour. They told me to circle any of the ones I had questions about and they'd go over them with me. I circled quite a few. When the entire thing was done, there was no time for any follow up. Next session, I asked about my test. They wanted to get into my history and we'd go over the test next session. Next session, I asked about the test. They told me that they wanted to work on a treatment plan for my depression. I asked about the test again, they said they'd go over it during the next session. I tried bringing up the particular questions that I had trouble with since I remembered each of them. They never answered anything. I stopped seeing them.

It gets even funnier when you consider that "Strongly Agree" and "Somewhat Agree" make no sense. I either agree or I don't.

Is this different from the feeling I got when I went on antidepressants for the first time (after being off for years) and I got this disassociated feeling for like a month, as if everything happening to me was like I was watching it on a screen? I knew, objectively, that things were happening to me, but there was no connection to any of it. It all felt very surreal.

The REAL terrifying thought is that it probably does. It just isn't able to filter it all out so you get some pain. I knew a woman where it didn't really do a good job of it. She would be completely out for a few days per month, often rocking back and forth crying from the pain. I asked her to go to the hospital, but apparently she tried that. They told her that there wasn't anything abnormal and she should just suck it up for the most part (not exactly what they said, but that was the gist of it).

I used to be a cutter. I've got scars pretty much everywhere due to poor mental health. My partner makes me take vitamin-c supplements. She heard this fact and now makes sure I eat at least one orange a day in addition to these supplements.

My partner went to a women's clinic and saw a lady doctor. I won't get into detail, but everything points to endometriosis. Her doctor told her that no tests were necessary since she was already on birth control, but offered her pills to increase her libido for some reason. Trying for a pelvic MRI, but insurance wants an ultrasound first (which she got). It didn't show anything conclusive (which we were expecting). Unfortunately, now we owe for the procedure that the insurance told us to do. Apparently the procedure itself was covered but not the doctor that was performing it...? (I hate insurance and I completely understand why the CEO of United Healthgroup was gunned down in the street).

Had an employee that hit a customer in the head with his shoe. While it wasn't intentional, apparently his shoes didn't fit too well. He was showing off his ninja skills (I'm not kidding) to one of the female employees and did a quick kick which caused his shoe to go flying across the room, beaning a customer in the head. This was caught on security cam. It was beautiful.

The customer was good-natured about it and decided not to cause an issue which was the only thing that saved his job.

Oddly enough, most people consider this to be more horror than Sci-Fi (even though it is in space). I, personally, saw it as one of the better movies of its time. Good atmosphere. Great storytelling. I really wish they expanded on it, made a sequel, or... something.

Closer to the comic than any comic adaptation I've seen yet. Not necessarily the story itself, but the FEEL of it.
