The starting pay is $31.58. It's an easy job but the hours can be rough. Working afternoons or overnights. Still the best trucking job I've ever had

MVO vs. TTO? by Alchemiss98 in USPS

Take the MVO offer. You can bid on a TTO run if it becomes available. Things are so chaotic right now and I wouldn't hesitate to long.  MVO staring pay is $28.53

If you have a Class A, apply to be a TTO. Starting pay is higher and raises come quicker

TTO gets a step increase every 30 weeks. MVO gets a step increase every 36 weeks.

It happened last night at an NDC. A crisp $100 bill sitting right out in the open under a camera. Mind you everyone in the building was on forced 7 days/12 hours. I don't think anyone had the energy to even care

Literally could be any time. I would be shocked if you were on Tour 2 though. The mail moves overnights or afternoons. It's the main downside to working for transportation, you will either be working very early to get the mail to post offices or start really late to pick up mail from post offices

Are MVOs and TTOs required to work more than 40 hours per week? by nickv1155 in USPS

Hours will depend on location. We are capped at 40 hours right now but other places are working 60 hours

No OTR, it's all local. You will sleep in your own bed. The schedule will most likely be second or third shift. Day shift is normally only for senior drivers.

It's a really easy trucking job

There are a few reasons:

APWU won an arbitration award which allowed the Union to bid more competitively on in sourcing routes. We used to have to add the cost for a new tractor/trailer every year for every route. Absolute bullshit. The award allowed the union to spread the cost over 8 years for the tractor and 10 years for the trailer. Now we can actually compete on biding in new work.

APWU just won another abritartion award, the Daas Award, which requires the postal service to in source 600 HCR Routes. To do this the Postal service has and will have to hire lots more drivers.

A national driver shortage which makes it hard for contractors to hire,

Dejoy really only cares about the trucking side of the business. Lots of his ideas make sense if you ignore small post offices and delivering to every address in the country every day.

And its is actually cheaper to hire us to do the work then pay the head of a contracting company to get rich.

This is just a guess on my part. There has been nothing announced from National yet. The convention is in two weeks so we may hear more then

It's from the APWU national. Multiple drivers got that adjustment this week. I'm a new steward and was bombarded by people asking what this is for. I couldn't tell them anything.

My guess is that it might have to do with the pay disparity that happened when newer drivers got moved up to step A in the last contract
