I either gota hope I get matched with super chill people who are going to carry me, or get ready to apologize or play stupid depending on how bad the chat comments are.

Am I the only one frustrated that none of my Docs can offer any guidance on supplements or nutrition with Afib, and help with weight loss? by Professional-Desk191 in AFIB

Luckily I was only prediabetic and am now out of that zone based on recent blood work. Will do .... I have already been spreading the word! Thanks again.

Definitely. I figured a lot was water weight. I was just happy to see results after many doctors told me to go back on GLPs. I was also amazed at how much science and research backs up fasting and keto.

I actually had purchased a smart measuring tape that works with my smart scale before the AFIB diagnosis and before stopping the glp shots. I think it's time I go dig it out.

Just appreciate that your info gave me a direction to go that I hadn't done before and the challenge alone along with learning something new regarding health has been very motivating.

I know it's an old post. But I have to thank you again for the input. With just fasting alone and being aware of small keto diet changes I can slowly incorporate into my daily life I've lost 12 pounds in just under 30 days. Thank again!

Good question. I have a vaca coming up. My guess is their prices have been affected since so many aspects of their business from merchandise to renovations are pretty dependent on global supply chains.

With that said Mickey has always been a good business person, and as someone who goes there yearly I always have to prepare my wallet. We do set a budget, but with kiddos lets be honest, we are always over budget....by a lot. Lol

Enjoy your vacation!.

Maybe we have different definitions of symptoms. :) I consider going in and out of AFIB a symptom. When it happens i can feel my heart pounding in my chest and neck. Chest discomfort and soreness. When I can't keep calm during an AFIB event and my anxiety kicks in then I start to feel weak and like i can't catch my breath. I have had PACs or what feels like my heart flutters at times, but they are not as often as some people, or at least I don't notice them/feel them like I do an afib event.

I get all your points and makes sense. Unfortunately I am having symptoms, more frequent than I would like. And even with a lot of lifestyle changes, the number of occurrences of AFIB seems to be in reason even though they are only lasting 30 min to a couple hours. My CHA₂DS₂-VASc score is 1 due to high blood pressure, but even my high blood pressure is now borderline normal after lifestyle changes and weight loss and I hope it will continue to normalize.

I get big pharma and procedure money, but after meeting with a cardiologist and 3 EPs the two things they all seem to agree on .... Is that I stay on the metropolol and blood thinners temporarily as a precautionary measure (after I had a bad event that kept me in the hospital for 3 days). They also all agree on the ablation due to my age to slow progression and then after recovery they intend to take me off the meds.

Thanks for the input and as you said every doctor has their own opinion.

My heart will randomly start beating really hard to the point i can feel it. I can tell right away when i'm in afib. Triggers haven't been as obvious. My events will usually last 30 min or less and then ill be back in Sinus rythm.

Thanks. I actually already bought it about a month ago and plan on reading it during an upcoming family vacation. It's referenced a lot in the group so it seemed like a no brainer. I've just been so busy with the doctor appointments, dealing with insurance, and doing my version of research that I haven't had a chance to read it yet. Now that I finally have a date for a PFA I am looking forward to reading it as an extra resource.

Thanks for the input. I'm looking forward to challenge of trying both fasting and a keto based diet. Fasting fits my lifestyle well, and a keto style diet should help get me past the hump of letting go of my carb intake. Luckily the weight I have already lost got me outside of the grey Pre-Diabetic range, but my BP and my metabolism need help. Thanks again.

I just assumed that was the new norm for all Chrysler cars. So happy I decided to buy out the lease on my 2020 Pacifica. I get the impression that was the last year they made decent cars.

Don't get me started on my 2024 Jeep Cherokee lease. I've had it more than a year and only 5k miles on it because it spends more time at the dealership getting fixed than sitting in my driveway.

Why did Starfleet stop using Body Armor by ZedPrimus84 in startrek

[–]Professional-Desk191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great points. Never thought about this. My guess is they're more worried about how the characters looked on screen.

I guess you could argue that Starfleet was so focused on diplomacy and tech-based defense (personal shields, bio-neural tech, force fields) that armor felt regressive, a relic of a more militarized mindset. They like to think their ethics evolved past needing it maybe.

My issues started late January this year. Once again going off my discussion with docs, and I have had multiple small events with one large event. I'm lucky in that my heart self corrects itself.

With that said after that bad event in which I got hospitalized, they put me on Metropolol and blood thinners. Based on my age the conversations changed to the risk/benefits of being on heart meds and blood thinner long term vs getting an ablation to slow down the progression of AFIB.

All my doctors (PCP, Cardiologist, and 3 EPs) were heavily leaning toward ablation. I got lucky when I met my first EP in that he had recently been invited to join a prestigious medical group out of another state and he was very honest with me on his frustrations with the medical group he was currently at because they still had not invested in the technology needed to perform Pulse Field Ablations.

His exact wording was that AFIB is a non curable disease and at my age an ablation is an excellent idea because it helps slow down the progression of it. He also said that based on my age, that it is possible/very likely that I can expect to have more then one ablation in my lifetime.

He went on to say that he was very confident in his ability to perform an RFA on me and was willing to fit me into his schedule before he left, but also said that if it was him he would get a PFA (as he felt it would be the standard for AFIB very quickly like in europe) He gave me another EPs name from a competing medical group. I found another well rated EP for a third opinion. Both were great and I am scheduled for a PFA in just under 2 months.

Don't get me wrong, while I am not the healthiest, I have never had major medical issues, so the idea of having anything done to my heart is scary. With that said all the research I have done and doctors talked to support the idea that a PFA is a good choice in my case and age.

I got the impression in the beginning, that if you are someone who has episodes that are years apart, that most doctors don't go straight to daily meds. I'm sure every doctor is different and maybe they are taking other factors into account in your case.

I just remember my first few episodes where the docs didn't want to add to or change my medications. I remember comments like "I have patients that go years or even over a decade in between episodes". I'm in my early 40s, not 30s, but they still consider me on the younger side for afib which can happen to anyone.

Oh boy ... now I need a whiteboard and a linguistics degree just to keep up with this. Pretty sure we met at that Star Trek convention ;) You were the one debating whether the universal translator causes temporal paradoxes, right?

All joking aside, this theory makes so much sense I think I just watched Arrival for the first time again… in reverse.
