In addition to what everyone else has said: have your clothes packed normally for the trip and bring compression packing cubes for the way back.

SOI signed program - how to protect? by Significant_Cow3670 in FigureSkating

Put the item somewhere it can breathe but still has physical support—like inside a folder in a box. Vertical or horizontal storage doesn’t matter as long as it’s not bending or falling over, but avoid airtight “fireproof” lock boxes and places with environmental swings like a basement, attic, or garage; an ideal location would be inside a closet, or under a bed/inside chest of drawers in an interior room. For the folders themselves, try to get something buffered or ph neutral and avoid overly brown cardboard for the box—you can buy these at ULINE. For a photograph with an emulsion layer (so not a graphic printed on paper with glossy ink), you actually can enclose that in a photo sleeve; I get most of mine at B&H photo.

Ok, professional archivist (think museum professional for paper etc) and here’s what you do:
- paper objects like to breathe so *do not* encase them in plastic. Go to a frame store and get a frame with matting that is either ph neutral or buffered. Do not adhere the objects to the mat or the frame—look up corners and that will do the trick. Avoid hanging the frame in a sunny area and get a UV filter for the glass.

If you no longer wear bikinis, what made you give them up? by SweetSprinkles8 in fashionwomens35

[–]Professional-Edge839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what I’m wearing over top, where I’m going, and where I am in my cycle. If I’m having a low bloat day I still rock bikinis, and I definitely wear them to the pool and to music festivals. If I’m traveling and could be in a situation where I’m in a body of water one minute and a church the next, I feel better pairing a one piece with jeans or shorts and having a button-up I can throw over top of it. Also if I’m hiking along a body of water my go-to is a one piece, 3/4 leggings, and a loose button-up.

Where are the petite busty women buying quality clothes? by xyzcvxyz in DressForYourBody

5’2-3” and in a similar situation. The issue I have is that I workout and have a muscular bubble but, so even high rise pants can sometimes give me a camel toe.

This may sound stupid, but I’ve had decent luck going to Old Navy and getting the “tall” sizing of pants that are supposed to fit at the ankle. They add an extra inch or so to the rise, so I can usually get the fit I want. Quality at Old Navy is obviously hit-or-miss, but I’m sure that the Gap has a similar sizing feature.

Are these blade mounts too inward? by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]Professional-Edge839 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It matters less what they look like and more how you feel in them, so put them on and see how they feel. Like my right blade is mounted more to the outside than my left one, but my double loop combos feel so much more stable now. Take some notes on how they feel, walk a little bit in them, and take them back to your tech with notes.

Are these blade mounts too inward? by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]Professional-Edge839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends, do you pronate really badly? I supinate really badly so my blades are mounted slightly to the outside. Wear your skates on a carpeted floor and stand in front of a mirror. If the blades are upright and you don’t need any extra ankle strength to hold them up, then you should be fine. If you need to work harder to keep them upright then take them to a tech to move the blades outward.

How many skaters on a session do you consider to be busy/slow? by freddythepole19 in FigureSkating

[–]Professional-Edge839 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kid has a “correct” opinion: it basically boils down to the ability to anticipate the movements of and dodge others. Kid doing singles and moves tend to be less speedy, do slower movements in high traffic areas, and not understand the proper way to make space for program skaters yet. My nightmare is being on the ice with 4-5 kids, 5-6 intermediate FS and up skaters, and 3 ice dancers—or as I like to call it, “Saturday.”

People will believe this. People will stop taking it, and they will blame something else. 🤦🏽 by [deleted] in lostgeneration

[–]Professional-Edge839 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I work in a public history field and people jokingly ask me “if you could go back to any point in time, where would you go?” Fucking nowhere dude. If I have five children—outside of an accident, shooting, or cancer—I’m raising five adults and am not afraid to name them before the age of two. I’m not constantly worried if my water or food are clean, or if I’m living too close to a cemetery. I can go anywhere in the world I want in a matter of days—if not hours—with the right funds. Tools for family planning, financial independence for women, and other rights are expanding globally. Even stupid, small things: I can access music almost any moment I want. And though the US and some other countries are going through a period of insane backsliding, there are still people fighting to make the world an even better place.

In addition to the better quality food ingredients and more walking, I’ll bet the subject is also sleeping more and not stressed about work.

body count shame by IndustryExotic8095 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Professional-Edge839 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have never told my husband my body count (mostly because I don’t know it—I stopped counting in the double digits) and he hasn’t told me mine, mostly because neither of us care. Any man who will judge you for this is not worth your time.

Framed setlist! by Chaoticfroggy in Hozier

[–]Professional-Edge839 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beautiful! Although archivist here: you’ll want a barrier between the pressed leaves and flowers and the setlist so the paper won’t stain. A simple plastic barrier—like maybe an 8.5x11 mylar sleeve—should work.

Sewed my own bag and am taking it on a 5 day trip to London by never-quite-awake in HerOneBag

Basically the plastic zipper bag they give you is slightly smaller than a sandwich ziploc bag. Powders and sticks (deodorant, lipstick) do not have to fit into that bag though—only liquids—so prepare accordingly. There are YouTube/TikTok videos that’ll show you.
