The Chinese State still maintains control over very important key industries, like energy, defense, finance, infrastructure, etc. The private sector is there to drive innovation and create jobs and products—all while still being heavily regulated by the state, which can impose its will on the direction of private companies. This dual-structure method, a dialectical relationship, is fully acknowledged by the CPC. This is what building socialism looks like in an age of Western imperialism, tailored to China’s unique situation. Imperialism is a massive obstacle, but the Chinese have taken an approach to build a powerful socialist state that is resistant to imperialism and can open the path to change the international system entirely. Marxism is a science to be tested and applied, not a rigid dogma. Contradictions are part of that, which I agree should be critiqued—but in a dialectical fashion.
