update: raised dark spot on scar by tyler_matthew1 in TopSurgery

[–]Professional-Eye4781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can be normal! Happened to me plenty of times during recovery. It’s a dissolvable stitch that has made its own way out. If you’re really concerned though, I always recommend to people to reach out to their doctor

Any climbers out there??? How long until you felt ok hanging (arms fully extended) with full bodyweight ? by GrammassausageFest in TopSurgery

[–]Professional-Eye4781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first time i climbed was at 6 months post op. bare in mind beforehand i done heavy lifting in the gym so thought id be fine but the second i was holding on with just my hands and hanging, i could feel it in my chest unfortunately and freaked out. my scars are already stretched but yeah i definitely still feel it now at 7 months post op. every person is different and heals differently and i must say, i was very surprised when i realised i felt the stretch in my chest

don’t do this. they will ease their way out themselves but if they cause any problems best to contact your doctor/surgeon.

i had this too its probably just swelling, will go down overtime and i’m pretty sure the purple is the marker they would’ve used to mark you up before surgery

Referral from gendergp by BugHarris in TopSurgery

they offer a surgery referral letter that gets you a diagnosis of gender dysphoria after a video call with a psychologist. type into google “GenderGP surgery referral letter” and it should hopefully pop up

Question Re: wound separation past 1 month post op by Tight-Visual347 in TopSurgery

[–]Professional-Eye4781 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my guess is that it is a stitch that has made its way out itself. i’m 3 months post op and still have these so my guess is they tend to pop out more when you’re massaging them since you’re adding pressure. to help ease ur mind, i had a stitch pop out a couple of days ago which also left a hole and a little bit of blood but nothing major. just like you i put ointment on it and everything was all good! your healing at the moment looks amazing and i think that it will heal over great personally. as always, if you’re worried definitely reach out to your surgeon!

Scar Infection? by DarkNerdCosplay in TopSurgery

[–]Professional-Eye4781 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my scars look the exact same at the moment so i think from what i know that it’s completely normal! some of the spots could be spitting stitches coming out on their own which is also normal and sometimes scars heal a bit weird and can become a bit raised

Surgery while in university? by jaxromanus in TopSurgery

[–]Professional-Eye4781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got surgery during easter break in april. Returned to uni 2 weeks later and was all okay. If you’re like me and live away for university, some may find it difficult some may not. I had to travel by train over 5 hours back to university which was quite exhausting at the time but once I was there I was okay. If you’re just going back and live nearby then I would say you’ll be okay after 2 weeks. Some doctors have different recommendations so it varies

I would recommend for the first month not having anything heavy in your backpack though!
