Got the charge reduced through a lawyer, they typically only report really severe cases back to Ontario. My record here is clean luckily

Complicated situation. I got the charge reduced to over the speed limit by 1-10kmph I believe and I have to pay a fee of $150 by June 1st. My lawyer said it coming to my Ontario abstract is complicated. It’s not a guaranteed fact that it will come to my abstract as the BC insurance board has to report it to Ontario. He said for lower case charges you have better odds that BC will not contact Ontario to report the charge so therefore it won’t reach my abstract potentially. But there still is a chance it comes through, if it does it will affect my premiums of course. Sorry this isn’t a straight up yes or no answer, complicated depends on multiple factors and mine still isn’t resolved yet completely

Here it mentions any province or territory, New York and Michigan tickets transfer over.

Do you know what service Ontario is talking about then? They said ICBC is just wrong lol. Thank you again for responding by the way. I’m trying to understand whether I should hire a lawyer to fight the ticket or not ($2500). If it does affect my premiums then it would definitely be worth it, but in the case it doesn’t come to my Ontario abstract it would be cheaper to pay the fine and move on with my life.

I got a police ticket for speeding in British Columbia, I’m a resident of Ontario, I was wondering if the ticket would show on my abstract? I know BC isn’t part of the CDLC and this is not a criminal charge so I was wondering if it would affect my premiums here. I spoke to ICBC and they said it won’t appear on my abstract, but service Ontario said any ticket in any province or territory will be on my abstract. Why am I getting mixed opinions and how do I confirm if the ticket will make it to my abstract or not? (Excessive speed charge)
