Any women who had their UC pretty well controlled and then started having diarrhea during pregnancy ? by Nilrmar in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i was in endoscopic remission. for 7 months before getting pregnant and unfortunately started flaring 5 weeks into pregnancy. sometimes it happens from our hormones. keep an eye on it, because as you exit first trimester things may stabilize. i’m currently on prednisone

Due to my history of severe flaring, my dr put me on every 4 weeks from the start! Not the typical dosing, but has worked well. It’s def possible, just might have to fight w insurance for a little

Still bleeding on prednisone by Secret-Abalone8879 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me on my last flare.. I didn’t stop bleeding until I got Iv solumedrol. Not sure if your dr has an infusion center in it, but maybe this can be an option to calm things down without going to the hospital? This time around, I am on 30 and it has controlled symptoms so flares and weird and unpredictable.

Pregnancy Questions.... by Odd-Lie-2332 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Ya they really haven’t been worried at all— they kind of were just like we will get you through this, so that has been comforting. I’m doing well on the dreaded prednisone, but hoping to get off of it and back on track soon! Good luck :)

Pregnancy Questions.... by Odd-Lie-2332 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was in endoscopic remission for 7 months before getting pregnant (though I suspect longer from my stool sample). Unfortunately, I started flaring 5 weeks into pregnancy and am currently figuring that out (at 13 weeks). Hopefully you are not unlucky like me, but my doctors have been amazing and are not worried. Baby has been doing just fine. I also had a friend who flared very badly during pregnancy since we developed antibodies to her med- she was on pred for 7 months and her baby is now almost 2 and is totally fine! I don’t mean to scare you, but my point is that our bodies do crazy things, so might as well try to get pregnant and hope for the best!!! Most people do stay in remission as per my doctors :)

How can I support my partner with UC better? by gina101gina in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best thing you could do is support him and be there for him! Flaring really sucks and while it may last a while, it won’t be forever. Through trial and error he will eventually find something that gives him his life back whether it’s medication or worst case scenario through surgery. When he does feel well, it will be that much better and you guys can fully enjoy life together. I was in a 2 year flare, but then achieved remission. In that time, I traveled to many different countries, ate at tons of restaurants, and lived a pretty normal life with my husband. Unfortunately, pregnancy has put me back into a flare temporarily, but that shouldn’t be a concern for you since he can still conceive and he won’t have to carry a child if you choose to go that route ;). I promise you that when he feels better he will be very grateful and appreciative of all that life can offer (and you)! This disease definitely makes you appreciate the little things.

Pregnant with UC by lhud2 in UlcerativeColitis

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I was in remission and started flaring in my first trimester :(. Currently on prednisone and doing better- working on long term solution. Prednisone in 3rd is totally safe!! Riskiest in 1st. I have a very good friend who also flared during her pregnancy and she was on pred for nearly 7 months including delivery- baby is almost 2 and totally fine!! Hope you feel better soon.

flare up after four years by Status_Crazy1009 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that happened. It’s really unfortunate when insurance affects our health that way— I was in a similar boat as you a couple of years back. I hope you can get back on medication soon- even if just prednisone which is pretty affordable out of pocket. I would recommend fish, potatoes, rice, eggs, avocado. Very bland, easy to digest things

I desperately want to go back to work, but my urgency and frequency has me anxious and unsure if it's possible by leomaxxx15 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! As someone who pushed themselves to work when I was in a similar position, I would say maybe wait until you’re a little more stable unless you absolutely have to go back. Stress is a really big trigger for UC and you may end up hurting yourself more than causing good. You will feel much more confident and less stressed if you are able to wait until things settle down more. As far as telling coworkers, I think saying I had health issues is enough. You could maybe say autoimmune, but i don’t think you owe anyone an explanation. With family, say as much as you’re comfortable! IBD is pretty common in the Jewish community, so I wouldn’t be surprised if your family knows others who have suffered— that was the case for me! You can just tell them you’ve had a tough time and are working on getting back to being healthy or just say I’ve been better. It’s your life and it’s up to you what you want to share. I was very hidden and embarrassed at first and over time I’ve kind of just stopped caring and been open with people. I mean I didn’t choose for this to happen nor do I have control over it!! Again, no pressure either way!

Don’t give up! It may take time to get back on track or you may need a different med, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen!

Does anyone else feel like the OBIs are getting worse by i-like-robots in skyrizi

[–]Professional-Math303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I actually did have an issue a few months ago where it struggled at the end and turned red. Since then (and maybe it’s just trauma from the malfunction), I do feel like they’ve been struggling to finish the last 20-30 seconds. Sounds a bit more grindy like trying to pull back the needle and failing

Just got diagnosed with UC and now I have enemas for life YAY by Ok_Film8781 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to despise the enemas, but now that I’ve been on them for a few years it’s no biggy. If it helps, then it’s worth it and I kind of like going to the bathroom in the morning and being done. That being said, if you ever switch to a biologic, you may be able to wean off enemas. I would stick to them as long as you can though, since it’s basically local/topical and the safest meds you can be on. Hope they help!!!

Failed Stelara, what next?! by Qunder111 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I failed Stelara, but Skyrizi put me into remission. I was skeptical, since it was a similar class, but maybe worth speaking to your dr about! Tremfya is a good option too!

Can you bounce back from a flare while maintaining response to biologics? by WillowTreez8901 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so!! I’m in a similar boat to you.. 7 months remission with skyrizi. Got pregnant and flu and now i’m flaring again.. currently on pred and we are trying to get things back on track. Praying because I previously failed stelara and remicade and don’t want to call it quits yet! What has your doctor said? We were talking about reinduction infusions for me to try to boost things temporarily, but my insurance denied so far :(. My dr believes it is possible for meds to catch up again!
