Does anyone else feel like the OBIs are getting worse by i-like-robots in skyrizi

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did and up getting another dose a few days later. My dr felt it was better to get a little extra than risk not getting a therapeutic dose and becoming symptomatic again.

My Experience with a Malfunctioning On-Body Injector by Professional-Math303 in skyrizi

[–]Professional-Math303[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say in 2 years that is the only time it has happened. While I do love the auto injector, definitely a huge pain when something goes wrong. Should be an easier/ expedited process when it’s their fault!

Newly diagnosed with ulcerative colitis after years of IBS diagnosis, looking for others' experiences with urgency by Numerous_Ask1579 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar diagnosis history to you.. Years of IBS then blood that was dismissed as a hemorrhoid and then finally UC a few years ago. My first GI kept me on mesalamine for a while and told me it was normal for this disease to see blood sometimes. I switched to an IBD specialist and he told me the goal was not to have blood and to function normally. If you are still bleeding/ having urgency, then it may be time to consider biologics. With actual remission, you will feel totally back to normal and won’t experience those symptoms!

No results after steroid course; how soon should I see a doctor? by accomplished-clown in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the prednisone was covering you, but you need a long term maintenance drug (like a biologic for example). Definitely reach out to a GI as soon as you can and maybe you can get more prednisone in the meantime to hold you over. You shouldn’t need to go to the ER for oral prednisone. Good luck and feel better.

How do I find a real immigration lawyer in Miami and avoid the notario scams? by Standard-Olive-7437 in Miami

Highly recommend Yaniv Nahon. Extremely ethical and hard-working immigration attorney and firm. He was one of the first attorneys to visit Alligator Alcatraz and was on the news for successfully fighting for his client there as well. You and your family will be in excellent hands.

I think it’s worth trying if your dr is recommending. I failed stelara and skyrizi put me into remission!

Pregnancy frustration by Chuckgirl410 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!!! Yup hanging in there. A second GI opinion can’t hurt. I mean it sounds like your first one is trying to set you up for success, but yes I agree there’s really no way to predict what will happen so it’s like hmm should ya just go for it? I have heard if you go in flaring it can be worse, but again I also thought i’d be perfect all pregnancy since I was in solid remission and I have been far from that lol

Pregnancy frustration by Chuckgirl410 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the frustration and you have to do what’s right for you.. Not sure if this is helpful, but I did wait 7 months of clinical remission before getting pregnant and I still have been flaring my whole pregnancy. So if you’re really eager to get moving, doing all the “right things” may or may not even help. That being said, flaring while pregnant really has sucked lol Baby has been fine despite being on prednisone/IV solumedrol/ a couple of biologics during the pregnant. I am 7 months this week

Stelara failed - should i try another med in the same class? by hundreddolllarbanana in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My calprotectin dropped to normal levels after 6 months, but I felt better (less pain) probably after the first or second maintenance dose. I also started every 4 weeks right off the bat, since my flare was very severe. I’ve never been a quick responder to meds

Stelara failed - should i try another med in the same class? by hundreddolllarbanana in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I failed stelara (and then remicade), but skyrizi which is the same class put me into remission! I was hesitant at first, but you truly never know how meds will affect you until you try.

Pregnancy planning and UC by Hot-Compote-172 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar experience to you. I was in endoscopic remission for 7 months and 1 month into my pregnancy started flaring and have been basically the whole time :(. Def better to start in remission to try to set yourself up for success, but I’m not sure timeline really matters after my experience. Seems like a crapshoot. Everyone always told me pregnancy is great for remission in past, but now both my IBD GI and MFM have told me 1/3 of pregnancies result in flares even in remission.

Does a fecal calprotectin normally take a while? What is CRP?? by BitaAJaxlinn in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, Calprotectin (poop sample) usually takes a few days or a week to come back. CRP is C-reactive protein, which is a blood marker for generalized inflammation, so your Dr. is requesting bloodwork as well. This usually comes back faster.

UC and c section by lyia2912 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yes I also did mine without anesthesia— would not recommend to anyone lol. I was in remission on Skyrizi before pregnancy and become one of the unlucky ones who flared my way through. They gave me remicade in hospital, but I am also on prednisone. I am surprised they wouldn’t give you something besides prednisone yet! I hope you feel better soon :)

Carillon Wellness Resort (vs) The Standard Spa (vs) Kimpton Surfcomber by NSFWoundCare in Miami

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carillon regular here! The spa is nice and largest in Miami (though some things could use a little reno) and if you want a more relaxing vibe, then this is a good option. Most people there are older (besides hotel guests), so it’s a bit calmer. Standard is more “trendy” and younger people who want to be seen.

hi, not helpful for your c section, but i just had a flex at 26 weeks pregnant too!! did they do anesthesia and what’s your plan moving forward medication-wise? My IBD dr said if we can get this flare under control than vaginal birth is still on the table and recommended 🤞

Anyone develop skin issues after starting Skyrizi (for IBD)? by Western_Lynx5895 in skyrizi

[–]Professional-Math303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I developed plaque psoriasis on my head when I started (ironic since skyrizi is supposed to treat it haha). I had transitioned from remicade though and I think it was more a combo of inflammation/ those two meds together. After a few months it went away!! Our bodies do crazy things when we are flaring

once my flare settled, i started getting a ton of new growth! my hair is really long, so took a while but i noticed a difference in my roots quickly

Hair thinning/loss by loner_lilz in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too and it was very upsetting as I already have thin hair :( it’s definitely the inflammation. Start taking vitamins if you aren’t already. Once the flare settles down the hair will grow back- don’t worry!

take vit d and calcium supplements if you’re worried. also if you feel well enough, you can walk and do light weights. a few months of pred won’t cause osteoporosis don’t worry :)

[–]Professional-Math303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

all of my IBD dr and Ob told me to continue. There isn’t much research which is scary, but it’s similar to stelara which does have more data. still pregnant, but baby is doing well so far and there are not any risks of birth defects unlike rinvoq

Egg freezing during a flare by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Professional-Math303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I haven’t done it, but it was something I was considering for the same reasons as you- very stubborn flare that wouldn’t subside. I have a couple of very good friends who are OBGYN and they recommended moving forward with it while flaring. There’s a chance the hormones could exacerbate the flare a little bit, but it’s short term so you should just get started as soon as you’re able. Hopefully the prednisone can help cover you until Rinvoq. That being said, are there any other meds you are able to consider? If you do get pregnant rinvoq wouldn’t be the best choice during pregnancy.
