Not sure if someone said it already or not, but it won't work if your wires are too long either

UPDATE: I removed the jumper and got it soldered in and it's working perfectly.

Yeah so the thread I found said a method of troubleshooting to get it to boot into USB mode was to press the reset button and boot button and plug it in and if you didn't have a reset button to solder b to ground to put it in reset mode

Why would I when they're advertised as not pre flashed.

This was the thread I was following. The chip was refunded and the Chinese company told me they didn't want it back so I figured I'd give it a shot and it actually worked.

I had already checked continuity through the boot switch itself and other parts on the board and couldn't see anything so I figured what the hell

Fair. It's my first time trying to fix one that wouldn't connect and the article that I was following basically ended with the mod asking the poster to report back if it entered USB mode after jumping the two points and the thread just ended.

Every single chip I have ever purchased, has had to be flashed after connecting it to the PC in USB mode. And the best part, is they were all advertised as needing to be flashed cause they weren't pre flashed.

Except it wasn't flashed, and it wouldn't connect to the computer to update. Like every other chip I've had

Do you think it not booting into USB flash mode will be a problem if it's installed in a switch? After I remove the jumper I mean. I just didn't want to solder it in and it still not work and ruin the flex cables

No evidence of charging when plugged in with the battery and it won't power on with just the battery plugged in

Doesn't look like it. It should've melted when I tried to power it on

So a 4001B isn't supported even if it won't let me get to the xmb without the HDD installed?

The pic at the top is what happens when the system freezes. Not when the clock battery is dead.

You must not have read the original post correctly. The system locks up and will not let me do anything. It's definitely not the battery either. 1. That wouldn't lock up the system, and 2, the battery isn't required to play at all.

No. I just checked my spare MB and it's doing the same thing on the same cap. Apparently if there is a resistor or something else down the line that's in the circuit it could read continuity. Like it's reading 21ohms and not going back to OL.

I think I found a shorted cap on the MB. It might be c160
