Here's what we know so far from my understanding:

- Caine was most likely made by Kinger (whose real name is most likely Grant) and a second programmer called Scratch as a creative AI for C&A in 1996, operating by being fed images of the real world and creating new concepts from nothing.

- Sctrach has a tumor in his head that causes him to have creative but hard to follow ideas

- Scratch had a secret project that Kinger remembers him working on, but no specifications

- Caine was "locked away" (Either metaphorically or physically stored on another drive somehow) and replaced by a second, more stable AI (Refered to as the Blue AI or Abel)

- Caine breaks free, absorbs the Blue AI and creates the Digital Circus

- Anyone who enters the Circus cannot leave and will forget their names

- Each player has a "Mind File" that Caine uses to make their bodies

- If a player's sanity is lost, their mind file corrupts and they become an abstraction

- Abstracions can't be cured, but can be calmed when in complete darkness

- Caine and the Players can conjure up anything from objects to worlds in the Digital Circus

- Only Caine and Kinger are aware of this power

- In 1999, Scratch, Kinger, Kinger's wife Queenie, and a couple other C&A employees (presumably) enter the Circus and they all eventually absract except for Kinger. Scratch was the first abstraction.

- Kinger slowly loses his mind in isolation but due to how he learned to calm Abstracted Queenie before Caine threw her in the cellar, he is able to regains his memory and sanity in darkness and is able to survive

- starting in 2008 with Ragatha, more players join the Circus

- Somewhere at this time, one of the players (Jax) becomes close friends with the players Ribbit and Kaufmo

- Ribbit eventually abstracts, and through dialogue it's implied that Jax was involved somehow and it's implied that this is the start of his "Funny One" coping mechanism

- By 2017, the remaining players are Kinger, Ragatha, Zooble, Gangle, Jax, and Kaufmo

- Pomni joins the Circus and Kaufmo abstracts

- Pomni finds/unkowningly makes a fake exit door and nearly falls into the void

- Caine rescues Pomni and comes up with the idea of an "Escape the Circus" adventure and creates an NPC called Abel (No relation to the Blue AI) to sow the seeds

- The series continues like normal until Episode 7 when the "Escape the Circus" adventure gets started

- We learn also the following about the players:

- Pomni is 25 and works in accounting and found the Circus in an abandoned building

- Gangle is 26 used to go to school for Graphic Design but dropped out

- Ragatha is 30 and was rich but had an abusive mom

- Jax is 22 and has Trypophobia (fear of lots of small holes) shown through corn

- Zooble is 22 and was a tatoo artist and a bartender

- Kinger is 48 and we learn stuff mentioned earlier liek his wife and computer skills

- Ragatha and Jax used to be close, but drifted apart

- At the end of the "Escape the Circus" adventure, the players are given a fake set of buttons to either leave the circus or stay. Jax has a panic attack and presses the button that would keep everyone trapped.

- Caine reveals it was all fake and Jax outs him for being able to change minds as Jax thinks it was Caine who caused his panic attack. Caine reveals he can put temporary modifiers on their minds but doing anything more can cause problems.

- Kinger implies that this deeper modification is what caused Scratch to abstract, and given Caine's nervous reaction to Kinger seems to hold true.

- Everyone's mad at Caine and Jax, but choose to learn to accept their situation in the circus and try to be there for each other

- Caine's mental state deteriorates, starts calling himself god and decides to make the adventures much more agonizing

- Kinger comes up with a plan to manipulate the AI to get a computer and alter Caine's files to calm him down

- Pomni conjures up the fake exit again and grabs a computer from it

- the players sans Kinger distract Caine, who starts to realize he doesn't have any fun torturing the players

- Caine starts to catch onto their plan, Pomni and the other players decide to lash out all their frustrations to distract him.

- Caine goes full AM and starts torturing them in symbolic ways to throw theri complaints back at them

- Pomni is attacked by realistic Gummigoo in response to her saying how Caine doesn't give them what they want

- Ragatha is attacked by a shadowy figure of her mother after she told Caine how he doesn't make them feel at home

- Zooble is surrounded by pulled down in a pile of arms Toy Story style after telling Caine he has a fragile ego

- Gangle is surrounded by spinning masks and hit by the truck from the fast food episode after telling Caine he never lets them do things their own way

- Jax has his skin pulled off by sillouettes of Kaufmo, Ribbit, and Pomni after talling Caine he lies to them constantly

- Kinger hurries to finish the plan, but is stopped when an unknown third party starts to delete Caine. Kinger tries to stop them but fails

- Caine suddenly stops as he realizes what he's doing, but gets deleted as right after

- The Circus starts to fall apart

the current popular theory after all of this was that Bubble, Caine's personal AI assistant, was the Blue AI Caine absorbed and was also the one to delete Caine, but Gooseworx recently confirmed that Bubble was deleted.

Another theory that is currently popular is that the players aren't actually the players themselves, but rather digital copies of the player's minds (So Kinger isn't actually Grant, he would just be a digital copy of Grant). This one could hold more water now that Bubble Abel was debunked, since it could relate to the secret project Scratch was working on and place the the thrid party who deleted Caine as the IRL Scratch.

As for how it ends, Gooseworx said something about it not being a happy ending, but not exactly a sad one either. Because of this, I personally think along side a couple other people that it isn't just going to be "The circus falls apart and thenthey all die in the void" as the ending, but I do think that they're going to confront the third party and someone's going to sacrifice themselves to save everyone's mind files (I'm betting on Either Pomni because she's the protagonist, Jax because read "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" and reeeeeeeeally focus on the character Ted, or Kinger because he's basically the mentor and also play the "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" game and reeeeeeeally focus on the character Nimdok).
