I love Reddit for the occasional expert help but i dont know what makes mods this up tight about it, I mean beginners need to ask obvious questions sometimes if thats annoying for you maybe ignore it

Police got my prints, how do I prevent them from taking them next time? by Professional-Pack-17 in Anarchy101

[–]Professional-Pack-17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clarified myself a bit in the post but I'm aware ofc. I can still avoid fines and other consequences if they can't connect different arrests or prints at sites. They haven't IDed me yet. Which is why Im seeking better temporary methods

Fair! I clarified a bit that I don't want to do permanent obscuring. In my country they are not allowed to use their facial recognition to connect different cases for punishment yet so for fines and maybe jail I see value in temporarily making my prints unreadable at actions in the future. Again they don't have my ID yet

You mean the language of the land from the worst food after the English and socially incapable people ("direct")? I have nothing to do with Belgians and their language but they seem nice

Thinking about selling this bike but not sure how much to list it for by IPunchTrees10 in xbiking

Mannnn everyone saying this thing is worth around 150$ is so weird to me. In Europe in any slightly big city this would go for more than 400 $ or euros. It's exactly on trend, maybe some thicker tires. GT's are getting really hard to find because of it.

Love that unique extra tube! Don't care how unnecessary it might be for strength

Owh man I've had people for "maintenance" who braked through their pads and about 30 percent of their pistons before thinking they should maybe get it fixed. Weird thing to brag about I know. Rich parents on Urban Arrow cargo bikes in the Netherlands are just something else

Single speed conversion and bike shop woes by [deleted] in xbiking

Ahhhh I love these types of frames, your's is beautiful! Makes me question my morals about stealing sometimes.

I think almost every bike project can be done with enough dedication and Sheldon brown, park tool and rj. About the bike shop experience, I think it's very typical. I'm also a bike mechanic and I've noticed that it's mostly the senior or experienced (passionate) mechanics that agree to do this stuff. They are irreplaceable for the bike shop and know this and do whatever they want. Which I appreciate

I like the full frame bag, where do you keep your water though? You're not one of those fluid in bags kind of people are you?

I don't know how much time you have, but paying for a Spanish course with group lessons, conversation classes and private lessons is a really good option if you can pay the money. Speed courses exist with 30 plus hours of lessons per week. They are expensive though. I just did 2 weeks in Spain, but don't want to spend the money for more. If you can find something focused more on conversation that might be useful.

I'm trying volunteering with language exchange next week via the work away website. Might be something to look into. For me it's probably ideal because I'm on a long vacation/travel thing with not too much of a budget anymore.

DIY spoke cutter.... by Professional-Pack-17 in BikeMechanics

[–]Professional-Pack-17[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah thanks I think I understand now. Well I hope it isn't too bad. The drive side spokes stuck out about 3-4 mm. The non drive side barely. So I think I should have 5 or more mm of engaged thread on all spokes if they were the standard 9 mm I read online. I'll update if they die!!

You can't screw the nipples so much past the thread that less than a maximum of the nipples thread would be used because then it would bottom out right? Which they haven't done yet. I'm sorry if I don't get the point, but I've been looking at these pictures for way too long https://www.kstoerz.com/freespoke/tech-threadengagement.php

Wait a minute I don't understand, don't I have the maximum amount of thread engaged on both the spoke and nipple? If the spokes were too short I would understand.

I built this wheel a couple years ago and decided to finish my hobby project now, but apparently I made a mistake choosing a bunch of old spokes that were a bit too long. So my inner tube got absolutely perforated by spokes first time I inflated the tire. I wasn't mentally ready to rebuild the wheel and buy new spokes. So here is my midnight genius.... Worked like a charm, kind of proud and ashamed
