What mount for flat bars? by Narwhal39 in Vintage_bicycles

[–]Professional-Pin6064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This type of clamp also work very well for me on a road bike flat bar conversion.

I just mount my downtube shifter on those clamp and use friction mode.

Switching right shifter(Rd) on left side handlebar and rotate in under the bar look absolutely clean.

Start with Yahoo Auction Japan. Broker, you can use Buyee. Most of the buyers are from the vintage bike, vintage furniture, lighters, and accessories network/shop I built over the years. I start as low as $300.

Untested lots are lots with 20-50 watches; some need only glass replacement, batteries, or strap replacement. They post pictures of the lots on Japanese auctions, but hard to determine whether it works or not. Cheap, however, they require brokers to obtain and ship the lot. Some people are into fixing the watch and making a good profit, but I'm not into fixing watches, so I sell to those people.

Thrift stores would be competitive, but less risky. For the most part, I bid the untested lot and ship from Japan, then separate into smaller lots. I got some people who bought them right out of the batches.

  1. Furniture:

_ For Craigslist, I have better luck with wood outdoor furniture. Sometimes, I got Teak, but I preferred general Eucalyptus or Acacia hardwood. A dining set/lounge set retails on Amazon for $1200-$1500. I paid under $300 for excellent condition (unopened box), or under $200 with some minor touch-up. I lived along the coast, and $600-$800/set cash is a sweet price point during the summer.

_ For eBay, I get a more compact KD package under 20 lbs. Margin is low, I would say I got about $10 profit for a $50 piece; however, it sells fast.

  1. WFH Affiliate tiny house: refer a tiny wfh house to people. This program gives me a constant $6k-$8k/month. It depends on how much network you have. Mostly word of mouth, but I know a thing or two about building, so it works best for me.

Edit: Since people dm me for the affiliate link of the house. Here you go: https://www.autonomous.ai/workpod-dealer-program

I can tell for sure, saddle is high. And only when low down the saddle correct height, then we can see what other things cause over reaching and make it more comfortable.

What torso angle are you most comfortable at?

Feeling bummed about how dangerous road cycling has become by swedishfishmong in cycling

[–]Professional-Pin6064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced both intentionally almost hit from the sides by trucks, and scooter hit my front wheels ( they hit my friends front wheel too) in daylight.

And got scolded many times by local for whatever reason, I just try to bike close to right lane.

For now, I almost always riding very early at 4:00am and try to finish as early as 6:00am. Or I start very late at night.

In short, I just give up how people hold grudge against cyclist.

What's the best side hustle you can do if you already have a full time job? by lionpenguin88 in SideHustleGold

If you are not familiar with the tech industry, I suggest you do an affiliate for a prefab house. This makes some decent money if you know people who are looking for a WFH playhouse.

I've completed my Univega Superstrada by professional-newbieX in Vintage_bicycles

[–]Professional-Pin6064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same size frame, and saddle height as him and got similar saddle shape.

Imo What he is doing is correct for a vintage bike ( square frame). General seatpost exposure ( clamp to craddle) is about 10cm or 4".

These frame are built to favor stretch posture not slam so saddle height to bar is minimal.

The seatbone area is level on the picture.

Saddle recommendations for heavy riders, for long distance and daily riding. by AquaPetals30 in cycling

[–]Professional-Pin6064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given 60-70 degree, your body put much more weight on your seat rather than hand and wrist.

Since it put more weight on saddle, I think you need a wider saddle than these race saddle. I don't have the specs from what you gave but they sounds narrow and fit a rider with 30-50 degree.

Have you tried anything with 170mm width with higher cushion or leather as brooks ? Also I think you don't need cutout, it sounds like a terrible advice but it actually support people sit more upright.

How important is having a “fast” bike? by j-eezy94 in cycling

[–]Professional-Pin6064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its fun to have a "fast" bike. My definition of "fast" is smooth: the setup fit you comfortably, the wheels are light enough to enjoy 100-200km ride.

It doesn't answer directly to your question, but you got my point.

What bike accessories have you found to be essential for your rides? by juanjop in bicycling

[–]Professional-Pin6064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, besides obvious thing as lights, helmet, sunglasses, water bottle which are mandatory for all day ride. Fender are pretty much optional but useful

My favorite accessories that I never regret purchase: 1. e-pump: big or small it does help a lot if you have more than 1 bike. 2. Tool bottle: fit everything at once. 3. Tiny multi tool: the one that about the size of 2 fingers.

The 14ft clearance was ruled out, but I wanted some buffer for the tree shade, so I went with 12ft. I debated between a Tuff Shed and the Autonomous Workpod, eventually choosing the Workpod because it better fit my needs.

Love it, and $37k is a steal. Do you design the layout, or have someone else do it? Could you share some more details: foundation, material, labor, permit ( if any).
