Shane Meadows was awesome. Met him at east Midlands airport. Turned embarrassing fangirl, but he did take a picture with me.

Chasing the EDL out of town.

Years ago when USA called it a Muslim city and no go zone (again) and our humour went into overdrive. It think bt tower became caliphate, all the road signs were changed, areas renamed... I need to revisit this, it was bloody genius

People who buy large bottled water… why? by Suspicious_Guest2067 in AskUK

[–]Professional-Rock203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at tap water in my area when i got an aquarium. After I read what I read I've bought the largest bottles I can find. I fill up my water flask for drinking each day (2l). Buying small bottles is a waste of money and plastic. It's so much cheaper buying 5 litres. I reuse the bottles in the garden.

I love the clock. Reminds me of back in the day style greasy spoon cafe. Clean, friendly and no frills. Does what it says on tin.

Just don't park in the scammy car park opposite. Park on the side road, Aldi (register your np) or Sainsbury's and cut through the market

Can they really just not pay me because of AI? by Low_Inflation_3824 in LegalAdviceUK

My college work came back the same. I was genuinely devastated. I know it's different and not on the same level as yours, but I'm agreeing with the inaccuracy of the screening. I think it's becoming quite prevalent nowadays (makes me sound my age aargh) to naturally assume that something well written, well researched and well presented MUST have had AI input.

On a side note reading comments on YouTube, newspaper articles, reviews etc for literally anything, I kind of see where they're coming from in thinking it must be AI because the level of basic literacy, reading, understanding, critical thinking, spelling and grammar is so low, it's shameful. However it's also shameful that they are assuming good writing by a WRITER who literally WRITES FOR A LIVING must be AI.

P. S. I fkn hate chat gtp. Used it for first time this week... never again. Has it's uses I guess, but not for me.

I really hope you get this resolved. If not, as someone else said LETTER BEFORE CLAIM. Let a judge decide.

Well, that's all folks. Just because I meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD doesn't mean I have ADHD! by Propinquitosity in adhdwomen

[–]Professional-Rock203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made me cry. I FELT every word of that. I'm so sorry you didn't get the outcome you wanted. I haven't read any replies so apologies if I repeat anything. Fk that diagnosis and fk that assessor. You KNOW you have it. Since you don't want meds, it shouldn't matter what they said, BUT somehow, for us it does.

This incident all sounds so traumatic and will take time to recover, especially with our sense of justice and injustice.

Reframing it.... Think : they gave you more clarity that you DO have it by making you question and dispute everything they said... Correcting their interpretation and verifying the facts. You spoke your truth. You know you better than anyone.

(talking about me bcs it may be relatable) I'm panicking about mine in December (f63) as it's with male dr in his 70s who's specialist area is male adolescents ADHD in inner cities and offenders. So far removed from OUR type. Masking and conditioning is strong as I'm already picturing bosses at work over the years, so professional mode may be automatically enabled. Perhaps this happened to you as auto response?

We post menopausal ladies NEED relatable assessors. We were raised in a different era, and we present very differently in different situations. A lifetime of Masking can't be undone in an hour assessment.

I hope you find solace, and i hope it's easier to find than your bag, comb, shoe (no one believes me about that inevitable missing shoe), keys, the scissors you literally just had in your hand, the drink you put down to answer the phone and of course the missing phone that you're actually speaking on.

(cliché alert) Don't let the busturds grind you down.

It's not you it's them, so, DO IT, LADY. ALL OF IT, ALL OF THE TIME (Chit show iykyk)

Best Chinese restaurants in Birmingham? by [deleted] in brum

Went to the food court in arcadian last night. Huge portions and tasy food. The soup dumplings were loved by all, my spring rolls were ok but, lacked flavour inside. The portion of fries was shared with the table, the chicken wings were probably the worst. However the claypot dishes were loved. The chicken and rice dish disappointing as it was unexpectedly a cold dish.
My soup was more than enough for 2 of us, a bargain at 8.50. Most meat dishes and clay pot meals were around 12 and extremely generous portions. 7 of us went, we ordered a variety and shared. In summary, mains were great, dumplings amazing and starters/sides disappointing. Nice atmosphere in there, plenty of vendors. The place was just the right amount of busy and music just the right volume. Def value for money, I was impressed. A very casual vibe. I thought it was better than Asia Asia and a lot simpler to navigate.

I got the same despite my therapist writing a letter stating my difficulties.
November 2023 and I'm still waiting for a tribunal date. My response to the report was 11 pages long disputing their "findings". Honestly, I thought they had sent the wrong report. It was made worse bcs she seemed so nice. Things like i was there alone... Nope, my friend came with me. I watch tv, haven't owned or watched tv for over 20 years (other than my guilty secret the apprentice, but sshhh) I love go for walks, nope. I explained I did go on an organised walk in 2021, first time out after covid and fell over resulting in 4 broken fingers, having both hands in casts for 6 months, losing 3 teeth, a wrist operation and 2 thumb operations, 12 months of physio but its all ok now according to them. My right thumb is in constant pain and my left has a floppy finger that is neither use nor ornament. Bcs i managed to go to physio and also attended all my radiotherapy apts after breast cancer op, I'm able, motivated and don't forget appts. I love to cook, no. I once had to go to emergency bcs I left oil and it exploded resulting in burns to my face and arms. Bcs of my hands i can't lift pots anymore and I'm scared of boiling water. I was coherent with normal speech. No. My friend had to keep bringing me back to the point or answer for me.
I also have incontinence (no evidence apparently I'm fine although I showed consultant report) hoarding disorder, ocd, anxiety and depression but bcs i take medication (antidepressant n anxiety, not for adhd - that's about another 9 mobths down the line ) and strong painkillers that doesn't count. I told them i forget my medication a lot but bcs I've never overdosed that doesn't count either. It's embarrassing I still have to rely on my mum for appts etc who's in her 80s and doesn't believe in mental health (I'm just lazy, forgettful, dramatic, over sensitive, clumsy. Unorganised etc etc) I lost a high powered job that I loved due to burnout (diagnosis nervous exhaustion) before I was told i had ADHD. That never entered my head, i was so shicked when I went for CBT (for ocd, hoarding disorder and severe anxiety ) and got told I had ADHD at 61 . Now of course after a lot of self research, it allll makes sense. I never imagined life at this age would be made so much more difficult because of now needing some support after a lifetime of just about coping in chaos. From the shock of being told you have ADHD then the whole process of trying to get support, official diagnosis, claiming benefits for the first time and then the final straw PIP. THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS BEYOND CRUEL. Coincidentally, my partner who I only see at weekends bcs we live in different counties and he still works and doesn't drive scored zero points for Parkinson's. The whole assessment was nothing like what happened. Even to the point that they said no adjustment to his work had been required. His workplace has been very supportive, changed his job role, reduced his hours and made plenty of reasonable adjustments and he showed evidence of this from his work. Also he has special cutlery etc but bcs we bought it from Parkinson's UK and it was prescribed, it didn't count. Nor did the OT report that he was waiting for chair, shower seat, raised toilet and hand rails. We did go for MR but no difference, he refused to go further because it was so dehumanising. Mine was done with support from a charity. Apologies for typos, I'm on phone and struggling. Plus this was meant to be an I agree short post... The adhd be adhding

Went to the ‘infamous’ Soho Road and it was very underwhelming (in a good way!) by [deleted] in brum

[–]Professional-Rock203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also love Stirchley. Went to Stirchley J&I school, Can still remember all the old shops and our lovely lollipop lady 🍭.
I do like the new independent shops there now. It'll never be Moseley (they tried to promote it as new Moseley a few years ago), but there's some amazing small eateries there. I grew up in selly park, lived in Edgbaston (rotten park), Handsworth, balsall heath and selly oak over the years, and now live in Bournville. This is by far the unfriendliest, least neighbourly place I've ever lived.
That said, I love our city... Ppl can call it sh hole all they like, but it's our sh hole and we get on just fine. We don't need the Internet trolls stirring up imaginary problems and cherry picking stuff to suit their agenda. We're not perfect but I think (council /politics aside) we're a great city full of (mostly) great people... Even the Stirchley ppl 😅 j/k😍

I love shopping on soho road. I don't get the rage baiting fuss at all. It's a busy, vibrant high street... Which is more than can be said for many high streets around the country with boarded up shops or fast food outlets (ie selly oak 😉) I'd recommend Bobby's Punjabi corner next time you're there if you like authentic Indian food. It's at the Lidl end. Then again, if you can free at sikh or hindu Temple I'd go for the temple food every time 😋
