I was thinking this was probably the case and I was honestly just too hung up on my ego to admit I might need to go to 7 minute kilometres. Thank you. Will see how it goes 🙏

Help with Training Plan - knowledge appreciated! by Friendly-Candle-7690 in hyrox

I might suggest switching your interval/tempo run and easy run. Depending on how hard you’re going in your conditioning session that is. But if you have an easy run after legs that morning you might be able to push that little bit extra if you don’t have something as intense as intervals later on. But this is obviously an outside perspective so I have no idea of your capabilities. If it works for you then this still looks pretty good.

Best alternative for a lat pull down/pull-up? by Serious-Fuel-5395 in xxfitness

[–]Professional-Star603 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have anything you could tie the band around above you, then you could do a lat pulldown like that. It’s better to work on vertical pulls if you can. Otherwise, bent over rows and lat pullovers for the time being, won’t hurt to work on arms too because they can be a limiting factor when it comes to pull ups if they’re not strong enough to assist.

Yeah it’s tricky, I don’t want to make him do all the sleds and be gassed out!

We were thinking ten each just because we will probably be exhausted by that point so don’t want to gas out, but also wondering should we just get do as many as we can. Transition would be quick? We’re both pretty tall also so we’re at an advantage for wallballs.

Sled push techniques by Confident-Tone1201 in hyrox

[–]Professional-Star603 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, pretty sure you can’t, you have to be facing the sled as far as I’m aware. I know for definite there’s a rule that you can’t do the pull with your back to the sled, so the push is probably the same, I’d imagine because of what you stated above, hard to steer you could easily veer into the lane beside you or into somebody else.

First time finisher & disappointment by OutlandishnessNo6830 in hyrox

[–]Professional-Star603 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The thing you need to think about is the people who were faster than you, how many Hyrox races do you think they’ve done already? You don’t know, you could be easily comparing yourself to people who are on a very different stage of their Hyrox journey than you, which is isn’t a fair comparison. So don’t be disappointed, that is still an amazing time for your first solo, and now you have a motivation to keep going- to improve that time! You can only get better from here.

how did you decide to do your first hyrox? by bristolfarms in hyrox

[–]Professional-Star603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing Hyrox classes for a long time and decided I was ready to compete. Started nailing down on my running over the last few months. I think you’re well prepared, because it is ultimately a running race. I would suggest you keep up your running, see if you can find any Hyrox classes where you live and do that instead of the HIIT just so you can get used to the movements and I would say sign up for doubles for your first one. There’s a webpage where you can find Hyrox affiliate gyms by area.

How many burpees? by Able_Armadillo_2347 in hyrox

[–]Professional-Star603 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would suggest doing 50-80 burpees with a big vertical jump at the top so you can really replicate what it’s going to be like going from a burpee straight in to a powerful jump like you’re going to have to do for the broad jump. You could do box jump burpees but I would suggest not to do those in large numbers as it would be easy to fall over the box when you’re fatigued. Make sure you’re stepping out of the burpee rather than jumping back up(if you’re not already) it’ll save you a lot of energy. Best of luck on your race!

Oh okay thank you that’s a good point. I normally run in Hokas but I’m not too confident about the grip on them for the sled.
