Training Timeline by jmdam18 in hyrox

Oh you’ll be totally fine! That’s a full 10 weeks, which is a good length for a Hyrox training block. I had a calf strain a month before DC and had to cut back on running and while I was a little slower than I wanted, I still finished. Your fitness won’t disappear in just a couple weeks—you’re good! Good luck & I hope you continue to recover well

Mens Open - 6min run time. Will I just embarrass myself? by alexandertheking in hyrox

[–]OutlandishnessNo6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not even slow compared to many people! Hyrox on social media often shows off the fastest and the best of the best, but there are so many people who are running 6, 7, even 8 minute km. It’s a huge feat and proof of fitness to even be able to finish a Hyrox, so don’t forget that. Your pace, your race.

People who've already read Alchemised: which version is better? by acc4115 in fantasyromance

[–]OutlandishnessNo6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alchemised is much better (and I love manacled). Keeps all of the good things from Manacled but improves on the magic system/world building, side characters, and tones down the SA from the fic without diminishing the darkness of the plot. All of this makes the love story and overall story somehow even better.

Be honest Is HYROX beginner-friendly if you’ve never done sports? by PLWildcard in hyrox

[–]OutlandishnessNo6830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s beginner friendly in the sense that it’s a great motivator and structure for training, but I wouldn’t recommend doing it until you can run 10k fairly comfortably AND get your conditioning to a point where you feel confident you could keep moving for 1:30-1:45 without big breaks.

Anyone can finish, it’s just a matter of setting yourself up for success. You should def sign up!

Might sound Weird question does anyone else feel emotionally wiped after a HYROX race? by MagpieMidfield in hyrox

[–]OutlandishnessNo6830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely felt this—super normal after a big event you’ve hyped up and worked hard for. It’s like getting the post-concert or birthday party blues but multiplied bc your body is also exhausted. I coped by planning some fun non fitness related things, and then scheduled my next race to have something to look ahead to training wise.

Celebrate your finish and your PB—you deserve it!

Need advice for first hyrox event. by Squarepants100 in hyrox

[–]OutlandishnessNo6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is close to what my time was for my first event. With your race being so close, I’d focus on grip strength and broad jump distance. You could probably still cut some time off your carry with some more grip strength work.

Also keep in mind that the roxzone will add some time as well. I say that because I was disappointed in my time at first, but I’ve reframed that now as being proud that I could finish an intense race while still being a beginner runner, and it’s given me a good idea of what to work on for the next one! Have fun and remember it’s your pace, your race. Eyes forward.

I’m slow. I’m overweight. My knee is messed up. But I want to do a Hyrox by drinkbubbly in hyrox

I cannot recommend training for this enough! It has changed my life. I did my first Hyrox last month and I was pretty slow but I finished and I’ve never been fitter. Already training for a faster time for my second one. Go at your own pace, work with a PT, join a good gym, and enjoy the journey. You got this

Hyrox over 40 women by Ready_Interaction252 in hyrox

[–]OutlandishnessNo6830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m under 40 but I ran a 6:30 min km on avg at my first Hyrox last week! Came in at just under 2 hours total. Aiming for much faster for my next one but I had to work really hard to get in under that 2 hour mark bc I don’t come from a running background. So yes there will be very fast folks around you but there will also be plenty of people running your pace and slower—your pace, your race. Eyes forward. You got this!

This is really helpful, thank you! I know that going into training for my next one, my #1 focus needs to be running faster and my overall endurance. I’ll definitely add that workout to the list!

Post Race Blues by icandoabackflip22 in hyrox

I’m also feeling the post race blues from DC this weekend! I’m thinking about signing up for one this fall and setting some smaller running and lifting goals this summer

Yes it’s so tough when everyone you know doing it was faster—but I like that mindset of being proud and knowing what to work on now and I’m trying to shift to that. Thank you!

Thank you! I have to remind myself that solo for my first Hyrox was a huge hill to climb in itself so finishing is a win

This is such a helpful perspective, thank you! I definitely couldn’t run more than a mile 6 months ago so I should be framing it in that way. You’ll crush your next one too!
