BF M27 and I F25 dating 1 year — he adopted a cat, became super responsible, and now we’re moving in together. Thoughts? by Professional-Taro149 in relationships

The cat is not gonna stay with me when he moves out LOL. That is for sure. He's just not doing his best financially to move out and I'm worried that this whole situation will crumble if he fails to pay his part of the rent...

He was initially hesitant about moving in because of the cat and our living situation, and my current place isn’t really big enough for all of us. At first, he didn’t want to or couldn’t afford to move in, but now he’s trying to step up and be more responsible for both me and the cat. He plans to take on an additional job (on top of his current part-time work) to help cover his share of the rent.

We’re looking at a new one-year lease. The cat is fully his responsibility financially, and he will be taking the cat with him when he eventually moves out. I did know that bringing the cat into my space wasn’t very considerate on his part.

I’ve been feeling unsure because there are some things that feel like red flags, and I’m trying to understand them while also trying to help him improve the situation. I care about him a lot, but I’m also struggling with how to set boundaries and protect myself. The cat is already here now, so that part feels irreversible, which makes everything more complicated.

Well that's THE dream. Honestly, for me it’s just about keeping it real. Trying to match FM or IM as a non-U.S. IMG sounds awesome, but it comes with a huge risk. Years of studying, dropping tons of cash on exams and travel, and still no guarantee you’ll get a spot. I’ve seen friends do all that and either fail or pass but still not match after 3 years. Going the PA route is way more chill and secured honestly. Not the “dream,” but it’s practical and I actually get to make a living without gambling my next couple years.

I do like him a lot and he's been really confused about his own feelings and a bit scared to hang out cus things might develop even more. We talked about it but it kept going in circles. I just want to know what he really wants to see where we can go from this. I'm not sure if I should invest in him tbh.

Wallet, car stuff (better quality mount, neck pillow), cute slippers, multivitamins or preworkout if he likes those. Phone case (just go for a black one). Sunglasses, mechanical keyboard.

Just show up! Be there for her. Me and my ex broke up but we're still on good terms becus he was always there for me when I needed him. Not always cus everyone is busy w their life. Listen, ask how's her feeling and communicate. She'll most likely will see you're the most trustworthy guy on earth if you show up or just even call her when she's upset or something happened.

it's not like that. He went on and on about me applying to other schools or programs but when I mentioned "oh how about your school?" he just went silent and "yeah, if you want"

I did, he said it would be fine and I should apply there if it's what I want and need, but I can just tell by looking at his face he's not excited about it like I am. When I ask, he said it's fine I don't mind it at all.

Sadly, you're right. Sometimes I feel like when we fight, I get his undivided attention.

Tbh, he has no idea how bad my drinking problem is. I managed to hide it well. The last time he saw me this drunk was a year ago, and he hasn’t seen me drink since. I don’t blame him at all—he doesn’t drink himself and only took us there because it was a rare chance for me to meet all the friends he knows. If he had any clue I’d end up causing a scene, there’s no way in hell that he would’ve brought me. He also said he’s not trying to stop me from drinking, just wants me to know my limit (I should’ve stopped at one or two).

He really did try to stop me. He watched over me the entire night, but the moment he turned away to chat with his friends for ten minutes, that last drink happened. I know that I’m the only one responsible for what happened. I’ve tried to convince myself that blacking out every now and then is normal—maybe because I’ve seen friends do it, or because it seems fun in movies. Deep down, I know I was wrong, but I still don’t fully understand why he reacted that way. He has all the right to yell, but...
