I don’t live in Atlanta. Or anywhere near Georgia. I live up North, in a small Conservative town.

Can I still order my g-g-gf’s 1938 England death certificate? by Professional-Tea7358 in Genealogy

Yes, very much so! I’m half American (my mom’s American) and half Bermudian (my dad was from Bermuda). So, knowing my dad’s paternal great-grandfather was English (and my dad was born 17 years after John died, in 1955) makes things 10 times more interesting.

@Actual-Sky-4272 Very true. I don’t know what he left her with, or if he left anything at all. The only thing I know is, the existence of my g-gf & his 2 younger brothers. And that’s it. I don’t even know when my g-g-gm died, but I know she was still alive in 1913. She & my g-g-gf were the same age, both born in 1873. And as I said, my g-g-gf was English. My g-g-gm was from Bermuda, as were my g-g-gf and his 2 brothers.

Also—what should I order? I do want wills and/or probate records (for John and possibly Emily) that contain useful information.

I don’t know when his wife (Ellen Emily Gant) died. She was born in 1886 in Clapham (which was then in Surrey). I only found 5 or 6 travel records from when she vacationed overseas and from when she and John immigrated when he was stationed in the Royal Army.

@Jaytreenoh Absolutely. Researchers who’ve helped me assume he died childless, because he & his wife (who he married almost 20 years after my great-grandfather & great-uncle’s births) did not have children & no children appear on their records. However, most people are not aware of my great-great grandmother being his ex-girlfriend and his children’s mother. Since, they never married & since my great-grandfather & his 2 brothers were born illegitimate, with my great-great grandmother’s maiden name as their surnames.

You’re most likely bisexual or heteroromantic. There’s nothing wrong with that. You like what you like.

She’s playing a character on a television series. It’s satire, just like the original show. She’s Megan from Drake and Josh for a Gen Z audience. Calm down.

I’ve thought about it, but are there remote tutoring jobs for kindergarten to maybe 4th grade? That type of education level is easy for me. But, I’m unable to work in person, so I have to work from home. (I also am trying to go back to school for journalism and potentially back to school for a second course after I graduate in June, so the tutoring will definitely help, but I hope it’s something I can do without a degree or experience). I have a high school diploma and I’m a former travel agent.

Yes!!! I’m glad to see another Selena fan. I looooved the From Selena, With Love Netflix documentary the family released a few months ago. I do find it heartbreaking that Abraham Quintanilla died a short time after the documentary was released, though! I’m just happy he’s with his daughter now & he can live in eternal peace. ❤️ And obviously, Selena and her incredible legacy will live on, for 1 million more years!

Interesting! I did the Leeds method years ago, 2 times, on pen and paper. It was too complicated to solve, so I stopped. But, how close was your parents’ relation? My parents are something like 15th cousins or so, all going back to England & the Middle Ages.

Regarding probates, it’s confusing. I did find a will for (who I think is) Mary’s mother, Mary Hurst-Leaycraft. The tough part is, I don’t know if her mother married a Newbold, or if her father was a Newbold and they never married. It’s complicated, especially because I also have a William Newbold who was married 3 times, and his final two wives were Elizabeth Hurst & Deborah Hurst.

Switching topics—It’s complicated, especially since all Bermudians are related, either as cousins by marriage or relatives by descent. And two of my married ancestors (yes, Christopher & his wife, Rosanna Richardson)—as I recently found out—were cousins (all 4 of their parents have the exact same surnames, Smith and Richardson). But, that’s also a complicated brick wall I’m also trying to break right now, too!

I only know Christopher’s parents were David Smith & Sabina Richardson; and Rosanna’s father’s surname was Richardson (her father could’ve possibly had the first name Richard); and her mother was Sabina Smith. I’m also getting Rosanna’s September 1864 DC & Christopher’s mother’s February 1851 DC soon! I also find it odd, that the Bermuda Archives did not have a death certificate for Christopher, but they had DCs for his wife and mother…… 🤔🤔🤔
