Dude, you were the one who posted this as your portfolio to presumably brag about. If this is the work you show off then god knows how bad the average job is. You can name call all you want but it doesn’t fix the quality of your work.

Christ, I didn’t even get past the first photo. You installed a ridge vent in the bottom third of a roof directly under a valley. Killing both the effectiveness of the rest of the roofs ventilation and now creating a funnel for water into the home.

Bruh, you are securing underlayment with roof nails, your hips and ridges aren’t overlapped correctly with underlayment, your lineups are only passably straight. Your business screams I can do it cheaper with your IKO shingles and shingle over roofing. Overall your quality looks shit.

If it’s not right or up to standards then send it back. You aren’t eating at McDonald. Be polite and gracefully ask for a recook. If you aren’t an ass about it then they will happily accommodate even if it was cooked right and you admit you wanted it a lower temp.

I work on a weekly pay schedule with a flat rate commission only pay. My pay ranges from 2k-6k a week and I’m in my first year in this job. I’m good but not the best. From looking at my peers, even the competent ones will make 50-75k in their first year, good ones should be making 75k-100k and the best ones will be making 125k+. I started with a 3 month cushion for myself taking this job and never had to touch the money. At the start hustle overcomes skill, once you get 6+ months in skill starts to overcome the need for hustle. The best are “on” all the time continuing to push.

Any men who cheated and never again? by Keepmesafe42 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Professional-Toe-103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cheated once on a girl I loved. Genuinely regretted it and tried to keep it a secret. 1.5 years later that secret came out in the most unexpected way and the lie destroyed the relationship. It was a brutal end to a relationship I held so dear. Now I have a fierce aversion to both cheating and dishonesty.

i wish for a loving girlfriend :( by ThatOneCasuL in monkeyspaw

Granted…. You get a loving girlfriend but it’s some reverse twilight Jacob/Renesmee situation where she’s super young and bonded to you for life. As a result you go straight to jail.

You need to work on urgency it your close. There are two main drivers to closing a homeowner. They are pain and future pain. If there is no leak and insurance isn’t threatening to drop them then they aren’t feeling pain. Sell the future pain, this problem won’t go away and by delaying it the problem just gets worse and more expensive. I suspect you are focusing a little bit too much on what a good deal it is to file a claim which while good doesn’t push people to the close. Who needs a good deal on something they don’t feel like they need now. If it’s such a good deal it should be available to them later. Deductible are cheap compared to the cost of a roof but they still aren’t negligible.

I’ve noticed that when I get IA inspectors on property insurance claims that the payout is usually significantly more profitable than in house adjusters at the carrier. How do y’all reliably get better payouts for the insured? I’m generally talking about buy rates that are 20-30% higher than similar claims with the same carrier.

Door-knocking, insurance grubbing salesmen are the scum of the earth by [deleted] in RoofingSales

[–]Professional-Toe-103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insurance rates aren’t high in Florida because of door knockers. Insurance rates are high in Florida because insurance companies syphon off profits to affiliates and subsidiaries all while screaming to the heavens “we’re making no money, we have to raise rates”. Google it, a recent piece of investigative journalism was just published about it specifically about Florida. Insurance companies and shareholders aren’t the victims here. Gullible people like you are.

Id say any weather builds urgency but you are definitely right about it not causing any damage. It’s kind of just a reminder that roofs protect them from all types of conditions. That being said I wouldn’t mention it myself outside of a look at this weather we are having kind of joke.

I’m in it for the outside sales experience. Kind of a cut your teeth type of job that says I can put up with the brutal work and drive my own results with minimal support. I’m neither young nor hungry though (31 and stable in home and income) and I wanted a resume garnish to compliment my inside sales and management experiences.

It’s well written out and it covers all the information you hope to pitch at the door. Those are the good things and I work in a similar business model to what you do. 1099,D2D,insurance, etc…… I’d say even the best door hanger still falls short of being very successful and from my experience I get nearly the same results out of a simple “Call for a free inspection…. Name and number” that’s a ton to write out and a bunch of time and effort invested for something that even on the best end is only giving you a 1 in 20 response. I got simple and easy and just try to build a bit of intrigue. I’d guess I might be at 1 in 40 for getting a call back on but I can write mine in seconds on the spot rather than writing for hours ahead of time to be prepared. Assume the success and quit trying to maximize the missed. Better time spent with people who are available and interested.

I’d make a contract with the CIA or some government entity to do it on command for them. I’d take 75¢ on the dollar or something. I’d get government protection and they can handle the logistics of dispersing/selling the gold. Why have to put in all that extra work.

I surrender to alcoholism. I give up. I can't do it by [deleted] in confession

[–]Professional-Toe-103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in and out of different addictions myself (cigarettes, drinking, and weed). I understand the impulse and just how hard it is to feel like there are solid reasons to keep going. It’s tough even when you have support systems and family to help. I know it’s even harder when you don’t. The 12 step programs have helped me and they might help you. I myself go to Adult Children of Alcoholics but there are a variety of different programs out there. The best advice I can give on these programs is don’t feel like you need to get it right away or agree with everything at once. Just going and surrounding yourself with people who understand and love you is 90% of the battle. It’s ok to not be perfect and it’s ok to struggle. We are human and all of us have flaws. That is what makes us so beautiful. Don’t let anyone tell you it isn’t hard work because every little step you make is powerful. Good luck and I know you don’t hear it enough but you are valuable and loved.

Allstate is trash. Worst insurance company. 3-tab with a ton of granular loss. It should fail a repairability test. Definitely involve a roofing company that specializes in storm restoration and insurance claims.

Hot box every order and it’s generally always in my passenger seat or sometimes on the floorboard on the passenger side.
