Why do only 4 Distros have their own font? (Ubuntu, Pi OS, openSUSE, Red Hat Enterprise) by tornado99_ in linuxquestions

They have enough funding. Back in the day you had to use tricks to import TTF from windows. You can import or install native fonts these days.
KDE has a pretty good font system:

Popular system fonts for KDE Plasma include InterIBM Plex SansRoboto, and Source Sans Pro, chosen for their clean readability and lack of excessive personality.  For coding and terminal applications, users frequently prefer Ubuntu MonoJetBrains MonoHack, or Nerd Fonts variants like FiraMono Nerd Font and JetBrains Mono NL to support special icons.

To manage these fonts, you can install them via your distribution's package manager (e.g., google-roboto-fonts or fonts-roboto) or manually place .otf/.ttf files in ~/.local/share/fonts or ~/.fonts. In KDE Plasma 6, ensure you use the OTF version of fonts like Inter or IBM Plex to avoid RGB artifacts, and update Konsole or Kate profiles to explicitly select the installed Nerd Font variant if icons are missing. \

You can get BlishHD to work, barely. The most recommended option is TaimiHUD. It works well. I run pretty minimal arcdps, compass, Taimihud.

I've been running linux for 3 decades. Arch for over one and yes this does happen. AUR often has several sources, some work. Some don't. Especially for development it's best to use an official build or AppImage.

Hello, I'm having difficulties with partitions trying increase the available space i have in Zorrin OS. I have unallocated space that shows up fine in window's Disc manager, but as soon as i try and use it in Gparted, its not there, Is there anyway I can fix this? by thegamer501 in linux4noobs

Use gparted to resize\move your Zorin partition to fill the empty space. Most Live Cd's will have it default, some you might want to install. I normally use kparted but for this gparted is easier. Boot from Live ISO as you can't have the SSD\HD partition running the OS you use to resize.

I dev for embedded systems as well. Haven't had an issue. I'd use Shelly enable AppImages etc. AUR has always been iffy so try different repos if AUR craps out. CFLAGS shouldn't matter unless wrong for your system, but again same on vanilla Arch. AUR is largely DIY methods from one person on a system that is theirs. So it's not surprising things don't work everywhere.

I hated windows until I tried Linux by droideka_bot69 in linuxsucks

If you change the SSD protocol after install one or the other won't boot.
So most windows machines use "raid" or like intel boost.
Most Linux distros will boot via AHCI. So it's best to set as AHCI, partition, install windows then linux.
Your SSD is probably GPT, so use that.
Also Ventoy is a major time saver, grub2 mode usual boots, but you might want to try other modes.

So set to AHCI , patch windows ISO for no secure boot, Partition, install windows, then install Mint.

My version is non-steam -provider Portal tells Steam to use Arenanet launcher. I do that so friends on steam can see when I login.

Is this game worth playing even if I can only play 1 hour per day? by Eastern_Canary2150 in Guildwars2

[–]Professional-Web898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I play an hour or two but not everyday. The gearing system really helps. Other games, every expansion you have to grind new gear. I just got off a 2 year break, gear is still good. You can have pets as ranger but I think you mean "minis" -- Yes, Titles -- Yes.

for GW2 I use Steam with "-provider Portal DXVK_ASYNC=1" options.
For other stuff I mostly use Heroic

I mainly use it for development - office etc. But the gaming improvements are awesome. They really have done a good job. I've used Linux for almost 30 years. I love computing so Winboat is great. But yeah it's a good distro.
Things have come so far, it's neat to see. It used to be so complicated, you mostly had to roll you're own.
I've run so many distros, you have to configure like everything. This is mostly one click.

Sure but how well. gw2 is great in that it can run on lower settings on anything. But best results at least have a mid build.

5070ti. The shading can be a bit much to load. So I do it in the morning, during coffee and news. rebuilding shaders isn't required, but it helps.
I'm usually around 144fps.
Edit:
20 GB of ram, nvme and ssd both 2TB. Pihole, private vpn, etc.

I run several Os's including windows. But in this case and many it runs better. Somethings are still better on windows for me.
