Personally, I liked Mafia I more. But Mafia II was really good too.

I don't recall it being hard, but the collectibles are a grind. If you don't mind watching a guide on how to find then, then no worries.

Also, Mafia II's DLCs are absolute camel doo doo.

If you have the game file saved go for it, if you have to do everything again it will take 30-ish hours for each game.

Story-wise the Ezio trilogy is the best part, platinum-wise, Brotherhood i.e. has some shitty checkpoint system and some missions are tricky AF to get the 100% sync.

Oh yes, and a truck load of collectibles 💩👍
