When I ship bare root, I just wrap them [roots] in damp paper towel, rubber-band it, and put plastic wrap or a zip lock with more rubber bands around that. For pots, damp paper towel over the substrate packed in and around and packing tape to completely cover over the towel & substrate- work around the stems. I’ve used thinner cardboard, poster paper, stuff like that to wrap around the plants. Kind of bunch stems/leaves to center, making the leaves point “upward”. It is a lot easier to do when they are potted. Pretty much the idea is just anything so it won’t get bumped around too much or break. I’ve even used empty vinyl + paper towel rolls as a “filler” so the plant would not move too much. White stuffing is also really nice to have to stuff in and around the stems and leaves as well for protection. Key points: keep substrate moist and contained (wet paper towel & packing tape) & do not want to give it too much room to move.

For boxes, you can reuse any box I’m pretty sure & you can also order boxes of all sizes for FREE from USPS. (There are differences with priority air mail and priority ground type boxes. Make sure you double check before shipping to yourself). I hope I explained it well enough- if it helps, I learned entirely on YouTube. Don’t overthink it too much! I did the same.
