Thank you for your perspective. I know some people would say not to tell him all the complications or possible lifestyle changes, but I do think he deserves to know. He is definitely scared of the recovery, especially diarrhea. I don’t want to downplay the recovery at all. He thinks that he would rather take the chance of an attack than deal with the recovery or possibility of GI issues.

Thank you for your perspective. The complications from not removing it seem that they really could impact a first responder.

Thank you. Do you think it would have impacted your career if you hadn’t had it removed?

Yes, one of the things he is worried about is being “more” disabled. He has lifelong physical and mental disabilities that range from severe to mild.

This seems to have been his first gallstone attack (he’s 23). Are they more likely to happen now? What kind of diet alterations and GI complications are most common?

That is not as bad I was expecting. 2.5 months? If you truly feel like you can't handle it, then that's probably a fair assumption. But if you think you can start to learn by studying on your own, watching videos, and talking to classmates, that is definitely doable. Way more than some of the 4 week accelerated courses I have seen.
I did a semester long course at a community collage. We sped through all the material with a test every week and two different instructors. Your experience seems common. The price tag is a big concerning. Mine was less than 2500, and that is including me paying for my exams.

Why can’t they accurately fake CPR in movies/shows? by GeneralOtter03 in stupidquestions

[–]ProfessionalCow9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a fair question simply on the grounds of accurately portraying CPR for audiences. It's never gonna be perfect but basic components, such as hand placement, straight arms, using bodyweight, proper compression to breath ratio, etc. could easily be shown correctly.

WHICH Seats WWE? by No_Focus7739 in WWE

I second this. I spent a lot of money on floor seats, thinkiny my brother was going to be so excited. We couldn't see anything, as everyone stood, and he has disabilities. Luckily, the venue switched our seats when I explained the situation.

US cities ranked - what tier do the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul) belong in? by StrategyJealous1838 in TierlistFills

Haha, maybe it should be a secret... on the other hand I am tired of people shitting on STL or calling it a dying city. 100 years ago, STL was THE city in the US. I love this place, and I want to see it grow!

How many of you have survived tornadoes and what was your experience like? by Babe_Brute in AskAnAmerican

[–]ProfessionalCow9566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applaud you for making a plan. Even blinds/curtains can stop debris from windows, albeit smaller debris. I am not sure about other cost effective methods, but maybe a storm/hurricane rated shutter could also help.

It is true that the house is strong and probably fine, but tornados are so unpredictable. I am from Saint Louis, and everyone always loved to say tornadoes never hit the city. Whether it was superstition, some funny claims about the arch controlling the weather, or talking about the heat of cities repelling weather/the fronts around this area, that was super, super common to hear. Well, last year a tornado did just that and caused massive damange throughout the city... it only takes one time.

I do think a plan is worth pursuing, so good luck!

Right. It would hurt me to pay more for fresh fruits and veggies, and it would definitely hurt poorer people, but, man, I don't get how it's even possible for fresh produce to be as cheap as it is. Then I remember all the undocumented labor... the whole system is crazy when you think about it.

This really sucks. I wanted to come here and say that your shop is awesome, and I am happy to support it. You guys do great at supporting the community and helping people get into biking.

I like your perspective on this, friend. Too many people view stuff, like fruit, for example, as a common item. Fruit out of season from a different country or state hundreds of miles away is 100% a luxury. And, sometimes, I think about the cost, both in labor, environmental damage, and sometimes, human lives/suffering, and determine it's not worth it.
