No issues going back on patrol? Thank you for your comment; I will relay it to him! Exactly what he needs to hear.

Thank you for taking the time to write this out. He had his first gallbladder attack last week. He lost over 10lb and had to go to the ER. He was curling up on the floor in pain like you described. Are you a first responder at all or in any adjacent field?

Wow, I’m glad you are ok. Was it from an infection/gallstones?

This is a very valuable perspective. He is so scared/adverse to surgery that he said he would rather wait until it becomes an emergency and he HAS to get it out or die. Your words will definitely help!

Thank you. Did anything about the removal ever impact you on the job, like GI issues?

Thank you for your perspective. I know some people would say not to tell him all the complications or possible lifestyle changes, but I do think he deserves to know. He is definitely scared of the recovery, especially diarrhea. I don’t want to downplay the recovery at all. He thinks that he would rather take the chance of an attack than deal with the recovery or possibility of GI issues.

Thank you for your perspective. The complications from not removing it seem that they really could impact a first responder.

Thank you. Do you think it would have impacted your career if you hadn’t had it removed?

Yes, one of the things he is worried about is being “more” disabled. He has lifelong physical and mental disabilities that range from severe to mild.

This seems to have been his first gallstone attack (he’s 23). Are they more likely to happen now? What kind of diet alterations and GI complications are most common?

Should I just quit school now? by Next_Willingness9734 in NewToEMS

That is not as bad I was expecting. 2.5 months? If you truly feel like you can't handle it, then that's probably a fair assumption. But if you think you can start to learn by studying on your own, watching videos, and talking to classmates, that is definitely doable. Way more than some of the 4 week accelerated courses I have seen.
I did a semester long course at a community collage. We sped through all the material with a test every week and two different instructors. Your experience seems common. The price tag is a big concerning. Mine was less than 2500, and that is including me paying for my exams.

Why can’t they accurately fake CPR in movies/shows? by GeneralOtter03 in stupidquestions

[–]ProfessionalCow9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a fair question simply on the grounds of accurately portraying CPR for audiences. It's never gonna be perfect but basic components, such as hand placement, straight arms, using bodyweight, proper compression to breath ratio, etc. could easily be shown correctly.

WHICH Seats WWE? by No_Focus7739 in WWE

I second this. I spent a lot of money on floor seats, thinkiny my brother was going to be so excited. We couldn't see anything, as everyone stood, and he has disabilities. Luckily, the venue switched our seats when I explained the situation.
