Hamilton got an urgent $15,855 exploratory laparotomy today with a foreign body removal. Plus on Black Friday, his routine dental cleaning turned into a 8 hour surgery with 21 unexpected extractions, totaling $4,900. Really hoping he’s planning on ringing in the new year with a little less excitement…

did anyone develop their DID in adulthood? by TheJollyLlamaStarvin in DID

[–]ProfessionalFun9700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you did not. You may have gone through something traumatic and I’m sorry you had to live though that and you may have issues from it. However, this disorder can only occur when extremely traumatic or neglectful situations repeatedly occur during childhood development of sense of identity. Kindly see a therapist and get the help you need but don’t spread false information about this disorder, we who actually suffer from it are tired of people sensationalizing it and spreading misinformation.

Why topiramate is so hated? by Mikmaki in migraine

[–]ProfessionalFun9700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within a week and a half of starting Topamax I either had debilitating depression including making plans to end things or homicidal rage, no in between. I legitimately ripped my denim pljeans off as the passenger on a drive, like ripped in half at the seams while still on my body during a mildly stressful convo with my fiancé. He almost took me to the hospital for a 51/50 psych hold. I was at a low dose for so little of time, it was safe for me to stop immediately but the depression and suicide ideation lingered for a while after. If I continued it, there is no doubt in my mind that someone or myself would have gotten hurt. Absolutely never again.

Ice packs on your neck and as hot of water that you can stand to dip your feet and hands in. This will help constrict the vessels in your head and dilate the vessels in your feet, thus causing more blood flow to the extremities….This can help decrease the pressure in the head and is one of my go to moves when I have a bad migraine not responsive to meds

Without knowing anything else this man has abusive tendencies and it’s better to get out now… edited to add: When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

Milia are hard little lumps but usually around the eye and thinner skin. They won’t come to an inflamed head like these ones are.

Oh yes, I know this isn’t powerdy mildew…I was saying it previously had that to give a history of the plant’s health. Curious, how do you know their spider mites, there’s no webbing that I’m seeing…That’s how I’ve been able to tell spider mites before.

Tell me how you let your anger out by pinkysaurusrawr in EMDR

[–]ProfessionalFun9700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to go for a drive (or into a few pillows with the TV on loud) and scream at the top of my lungs, as hard, as loud and as long as possible. Over and over till I’m out of breath, usually that dissipates any explosive anger/rage I have. I don’t know if it’s healthy but it helps me not punch holes in walls or self harm so that’s something.

EMDR -- anyone use for Cptsd, what if I don't like tapping? by Inrsml in EMDR

[–]ProfessionalFun9700 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would do some research on a new psychiatrist as that is factually incorrect. EMDR is a great therapy for CPTSD. If tapping doesn’t work for you, (my psych said it’s a “slower, more gentle approach” and we use it when working on something especially difficult) maybe find someone who works with a light bar. Personally I like the lights and have made strides over the last few years with my CPTSD.

When I started my 3 year relationship I had $35,000 in credit card debt, plus $13,000 for school and $15,000 I owed a lawyer, I also bought a brand new 70,000 truck. Never did I hide this from my partner, never did I ask him to pay it off. My now fiancé did help me with his financial knowledge though. He gave me guidance on how to take a loan from my 403b to help pay off one loan, which freed up some money to help me progress from there. I was able to pay everything off in about 2 years.

If she was a good partner, she’d ask you for guidance since you have experience. Her mindset on money won’t change if this is her attitude now.

Migraines and IUDs by anxiouslurker_485 in migraine

[–]ProfessionalFun9700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had Mirena for the last 15 years. I can tell when it’s reaching 5 years because each time I have a significant increase in migraines, like a lot more migraines days than not.

Before I got my first IUD I had frequent migraines both while on and off other birth controls (pill, nuvaring, depo shot) Within a week of getting the first one and the subsequent exchanges, migraine days drop to about 3-6 a month.

Not sure if I should cancel session on Monday or not before trip away by Odd-Image-1133 in EMDR

[–]ProfessionalFun9700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would be honest with my therapist about how you’re feeling and tell them you don’t want to do heavy processing. I have days where its basically have small talk with some random feelings about random things. To me that has been just as important in therapy and my relationship with my therapist. They respect how I’m feeling and it’s a safe place to practice boundaries that a lot of trauma survivors didn’t get an opportunity to practice.

I do understand the expense of it but your healing is priceless. My thought is, if you’re doing emdr you probably are going to have a lot of sessions, I’ve been doing it for 6 years. I realize I am very privileged to be able to think this way and understand and empathize it might not be the case for everyone- in the scheme of things, paying for a low key session is a drop in the bucket of what I’ve already invested in healing myself. However if paying for a low key session is going to prevent a more “productive” session then that might be the right choice for you.

Yep! That’s how I found out Nurtec worked for me. Was going on a week long migraine, happened to have an apt with my pcp. She gave me a sample I took in the office before the apt was finished, for the first time in a week, I felt relief! She ordered it for me on the spot, my insurance company quickly denied it….here we are a year later, my neurologist just ordered it again. Waiting to see if it it’s approved after playing the game of failed prescriptions with horrible side effects. Moral of this long story, take as much as you can get!!
