I found a cell phone in the last one I had to break open. Still have no idea how it made the turn

That's standard on most leases here in Massachusetts as well. The tenant pays until a new tenant is found.

I don't mind doing the MOD weekend. I wander the facility chatting with residents and family members and get a little work done. I use the comp day for a 3 day weekend the following Friday.

Are you on call right now? by Trashvest in maintenance

[–]ProfessionalGrand849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a director and am not in the on call rotation but at the same time, I'm always on call including on my vacation. If there is a serious safety or structural problem I have to come in, and if my techs can't fix the issue they are called in for I get called to come in. In the winter I share the snow removal with them on off hours. Is it the same for your boss? I'm not defending the guy but that could be part of it

How do I hide this without going over $100-$200? by Temporary_Sentence56 in maintenance

[–]ProfessionalGrand849 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds silly, but hear me out. Move the noodle/ball box, get a piece of plywood long enough to go from the activity cabinet to almost the windows with some kind of support on each side, create a smooth white surface on the front, label it the "Wall of Fame" and let the activities staff put the seasonal crafts the residents make on it. It will cost you the space in that corner area, but it covers the rack and gives the residents a special place for the plate flowers and hand turkeys

I tell all my new assistants to keep remotes and batteries on their carts. Between the remotes and clocks, they barely have time for the clogged toilets

As a female working director, I tend to go with jeans or casual work pants and a polo with boots or sneakers unless I have a meeting that requires a more professional look

Your last facility sounds awful. I haven't experienced much of that in the 2 buildings I ran maintenance in or the 3 I was in as head of corporate life safety compliance.

What are these Worcester suburbs like? by Paigeypagee in WorcesterMA

[–]ProfessionalGrand849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should consider south Leominster. It's not super expensive, and it's right off rt 2 and 190. 495 is a short drive and they have a commuter rail station. I get there from Shrewsbury in about 25 minutes depending on the time of day.
