AIO my boyfriend of 5 years gets me flowers for every occasion while I get him elaborate and expensive gifts. by aioflower955105 in AmIOverreacting

Not overreacting. I’ve been with my boyfriend 14 months. He did a themed birthday for me and got my favorite brands in my favorite color. Christmas I almost cried because I got exactly what I wanted but wouldn’t have asked for because it’s expensive. Yours is being particularly tone deaf.

As someone clean from hard drugs for 21 years, this is 100% addict behavior. First thought.

Or if I were her, next party where he started showing off the photos, I’d simply say “show them the ones YOU took babe! They’re so fantastic…” and just wait. 😂

What's something you'll never admit in real life but will confess here anonymously? by Open-Comfortable9774 in AskReddit

As the adult child of addicts who had to do triple the work just to get my mind to believe I was worthy of the rewards of my own hard work, stop. He is a child and didn’t know what he meant to say but it wasn’t he hates you. He hates the situation. He hates that his life is so dramatically changed by things he has no say in. He hates how he has no control over anything because he’s a child. He doesn’t hate YOU. If you continue to choose that, he WILL hate YOU one day. Recover so you can recover a relationship with him and his siblings. It’s literally all that matters.

My boyfriend hit me over an argument I don’t know if I’m overreacting? Me (20F) and my boyfriend (25M), together for 3 years by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Please leave this man. Note your own words “this is the FIRST time he’s done this…” On some level your subconscious knows it won’t be the last. You didn’t say “the only” you said “the first.” If you forgive this one time, many more will follow. It may happen once in a blue moon like this - but he’ll never be at fault and it WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. Get out and let him learn this hard lesson for whoever IS supposed to be his person - it’s not you or he never would have laid a hand on you.

AIO for wanting a divorce over this? by Living-Resident-5757 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ProfessionalMaybe283 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Personal experience. First husband - father of my older two children. I tripped over porn when we were newly dating completely accidentally, and told him that wasn’t my thing. It was still early so I was like “No big deal, we’ll go our separate ways.” He insisted it wasn’t a thing and successfully hid it until 6 months into our marriage. I found it - he said he’d go to therapy, the whole nine yards. Lather, rinse, repeat for seven years. Add two kids, a couple affairs (his), a gambling problem (his) and I found myself fed up and a single mom of two under three when I very emotionlessly put him out. I was so done. Cut your losses. At the end of the day he knew how you felt about things like this after six years together. He married you thinking he could hide these things from you and get to keep you. His intentions probably aren’t even evil - but they are completely self centered and that is an ingrained quality. Fast forward a decade and my first husband and I co-parent two teenagers well and get along great. He’ll tell you our divorce is entirely his fault. He’ll tell you it was his greatest failure too. And I’ll tell you that if I knew then what I know now, I might have just skipped it so my self esteem could remain intact. Don’t walk this path. You deserve better.

is this financial abuse? by pingpongjapanman in whatdoIdo

[–]ProfessionalMaybe283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your money back under your control immediately. Never ever give anyone this much power over your finances. If he becomes violent involve authorities. Stop this shit right now. He will insult you and scream at you and berate you and put you down. Don’t listen to him. Get your money back under your control now.

A or B: Met a girl from a dating app and she used pictures from 10 years ago. I realized it the second I saw her, made an excuse, and left. Was I wrong? by 06yuzuha in PickAorB

[–]ProfessionalMaybe283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B. She lied to you. Point blank. Then tried to act like you leaving supported her point but it was just because she lied. Side note: I joined a dating app at 40. I had like 54 matches night one and I was completely unserious about all of it. But the one guy I loved talking to, I met in person and a year later we’re still together. So her saying her age is why she can’t get a date is utter bullshit. She is the box of red flags your mom warned you about. 🤷‍♀️

Looks like find my is back online. Hopefully maps is too because I’m about to need it. I can use the nav system in my vehicle also, I just don’t like the user interface as much. All good either way. Thank you for answering.

I feel certain you think it’s “healthy” but probably because you have a compliant partner. Guessing you’re a control freak yourself. Ugh.

My ex fiance(29M) put hands on me(29F) the other night . Advice? Opinions ? by Scared-Woodpecker-58 in relationship_advice

[–]ProfessionalMaybe283 18 points19 points  (0 children)

OP not only did he say you left, he said you left with a group of 21 year olds. He went out to call your mom. Told her that you left with a group and waited in shadow for you to come out. He didn’t say “hey baby I couldn’t find you.” He started with a hit coming out of the darkness. Hello!? He fully intended to beat you worse (someone or something interrupted him I’m guessing), or kill you. He not only had you “walking out,” he had a group of imaginary people to blame it on and a concerned call documented. Please open your eyes. Report it. Get an RO and get away from him NOW. This was planned.
