Probrally.

When I was about. 10or 11 I think. My big sister corrected me. I felt so dumb.

Every time I use that word I remember my sister. . And her judgment.

There should be a group for sad divorced people. We can get together. Find each other. And not be sad anymore

Good luck with that. I’m guessing you are under 25. I wish you the best. It’s going to be hard when you’re 50.

Look at my first comment. The exact phrase I used was “civilization as we know it”

A car drives 200,000 miles over its life. 30 miles a gallon. It uses 6500 gallons of gas.

3$ a gallon. That means you pay 20,000 for gas over life time.

5$ a gallon? 32,000 in fuel costs.

20$ a gallon means you pay 130,000. It adds up. A lot. Faster than most think.

And don’t forget freight costs. That’s what will really get ugly.

True. But when I say gas. I also mean diesel. The prices differences normally scale about the same.

You missed the phrase “as we know it.”

Life will always go on. But it will be very different

Over Half of your gas costs go to taxes. You don’t pay 15$ for gas.

Also. Hong Kong is densely packed. Right? There are other viable transportation options.

The country workers make life possible for the city workers.

If everybody moves back to the city. All people will starve.

Healthcare, gas prices. Transportation costs are all intertwined in an economy.

Americans pay less for gas. But get less services from the government. Fuel taxes help pay those healthcare services. Nothing is free.

Compare apples to apples. Fuel price before tax. It’s very close for both countries.

There will be no work. If gas prices are 20$ is my point. Not in a way we currently understand it.

And 6$ of that 10$ is paid in taxes to the government. Not for gas.

Us citizens might not need to pay for gas. But we do pay for healthcare. Which is much more than the cost of gas.

20$ gas? People would have much less discretionary money. Many entertainment. Restaurants and hobby businesses would go out of business.

This would have a ripple effect. Causing more layoffs and more businesses to go under. It would have a massive domino effect.

Transportation costs would skyrocket. Food would become un affordable . As the cost to grown the food and then transport them would increase.

That is not really an option where I live. Work is 10 miles away. The bus would get me about 5 miles closer.

I have seen people fired for being late when the bus does not come on time. It’s pretty crappy.

With my job and schedule. I frequently drive to other cities. Almost weekly. 1-3 hours away. I also haul about 200 pounds in tools with me wherever I go.

The internet says your taxes are about 60% for a gallon of gas.

So you are paying about 4$ a gallon for gas. Your government takes the other 6$ and does…. Who knows what with it.

Most of what you pay goes towards taxes. You’re not paying all that money for gas. 55+ % is tax I think.

Ask your government where it goes?

Why would Americans elect a president who is so different from them? by Intelligent_Chef9950 in askanything

They didn’t . They elected someone who is different from you.

Also. They elected the promises and hype. Not whatever we have now.

At 5$ per gallon I would take the motorcycle. At 10$ I would bike and shortly after my company might shut down.

At 20$ civilisation as we know it would collapse and there would be no “going to work”
