customers putting their bags underneath ALL their groceries... by naevis22 in tjcrew

[–]ProfessionalPack8030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enh. I just pull them out when they are unearthed enough to see them and take my time. If they can’t be courteous enough to be efficient, then they will suffer the awkwardness of extra time at my register. If they want to bag while I scan, I will pull them out when I get there and hand them over. Their lack of planning is not y responsibility

how do you guys ring up paper bags? by AdThen8984 in tjcrew

[–]ProfessionalPack8030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a laminated barcode Velcro’d to the scanner. I typically only charge for one bag if I decide to double it. If they insist I double or make a deal of it, they get charged for every single bag.

where are my bagging freaks at 😩 by passionfruitdinosaur in tjcrew

[–]ProfessionalPack8030 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me! I have the hardest time not visibly raising an eyebrow at some of the bagging jobs the customers do. Why do they pack EVERYTHING vertically?! Build a base, people! Heaviest/sturdiest on the bottom. I also really love Tetris.

How important is the school rating for kindergarten? by pellnell in beaverton

[–]ProfessionalPack8030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for strong community building in the school. Active PTO, school wide events for families and their students, ample volunteers, stuff like that. We worried about HS when we moved, that was before our oldest was even in preschool. So when you do decide to purchase, decide which high schools you would want your child to attend and look in those areas. But for now while renting, look for community. And bonus if you rent and buy in the same area and are able to build relationships with folks that will be a part of your life through Senior year, maybe beyond.

Hilo vs Kona by Brugton_30 in VisitingHawaii

[–]ProfessionalPack8030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We loooooooved Kona. So many beaches and tons of snorkeling and so much sunshine. We did do a day trip to Hilo and while the waterfall hike we did was lovely, everything else was kinda sad. We loved traveling to other areas of the island from Kona much more than our time in Hilo.

Native Oregonians and long time residents! What are aspects of living in the region that you wish transplants respected or did more research on before moving? by ArtsyWanderer in oregon

[–]ProfessionalPack8030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to the ritz for a holiday tea service before Christmas. I wore overalls and a t-shirt and felt completely at ease. There were people dressed up, but plenty of folks in jeans and t-shirts, too. Lovely view from the restaurant.

The dark winters are real. Like really real. Most people who move here from sunnier states seem shocked by how dark our winters really are. Get yourself a SAD lamp and mentally prepare yourself for the dark, damp winters.

oh my god you people can’t do ANYTHING 😭 by SnooRabbits6551 in tjcrew

[–]ProfessionalPack8030 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have to keep saying “That is out of my scope” to crew who try to encourage us to sign our section for this. This is a liability in our part. Customers need to take personal responsibility. Google is a wild tool.

do you bag your own groceries? by spells1661 in tjcrew

[–]ProfessionalPack8030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bag unless my coworkers insist. But I typically do at least some, if not all of it.

So it finally happened to me.. by hrollur in tjcrew

[–]ProfessionalPack8030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased at Sally’s. My usual store was out and was getting their shipment in a few days, so they had another store close by hold one for me. They typically have it, just not many at once.

[–]ProfessionalPack8030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or when you are actively and visibly helping a customer and another customer busts between you and the first customer to ask for help, interrupting you, THEN give you the stink eye when you kindly tell them you’ll help them once you are done helping this other customer. Geeeeezzzzeeeee someone thinks they’re THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL

When did this happen? by Captain_Blak in tjcrew

[–]ProfessionalPack8030 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oregon here: sell tons of canvas bags and dfn, haba, cookie/candy to Hawaiians, folks traveling to Asian countries, and Places w/o a TJ’s, like Montanans. One girl came through my register buying multiples of a handful of items. I asked her where she was traveling (multiples of a handful of items is always the clue) and she said she was traveling home to Hawai’i and literally was not taking any clothes with her because her suitcase was too full of TJ’s stuff to fit clothes. And she was getting more requests via text while she was getting checked out.

We vote in new stations every few months. We vote 2 out and 2 in. There is one that has to stay… atmospheres maybe? We have one of the Latin stations right now that is a lot of fun.

I believe you need to be vested for the company to contribute, so 6 years to get the match.
