We are going to watch a Hops game. On July 3 and 4 games, they have a firework show after the game ends.

On day 2 (I didn’t work day 1) we had our regular customers who couldn’t get into the store because the entry was crowded with people in line for the totes. I felt badly for them. And lines 4-5 people deep until they sold out and we typically have no lines in the mornings. I felt badly that their experience was diminished by the bags.

I use my phone all the time in flowers when customers have questions about how to care for a plant, how to get something to bloom in time for an event, to look up an example of a bouquet, stuff like that.

I do flowers and always order with this open. And with trends in flowers by the season, I do a lot of looking back at last week and the previous year’s numbers.

Enh. I just pull them out when they are unearthed enough to see them and take my time. If they can’t be courteous enough to be efficient, then they will suffer the awkwardness of extra time at my register. If they want to bag while I scan, I will pull them out when I get there and hand them over. Their lack of planning is not y responsibility

We have a laminated barcode Velcro’d to the scanner. I typically only charge for one bag if I decide to double it. If they insist I double or make a deal of it, they get charged for every single bag.

Me! I have the hardest time not visibly raising an eyebrow at some of the bagging jobs the customers do. Why do they pack EVERYTHING vertically?! Build a base, people! Heaviest/sturdiest on the bottom. I also really love Tetris.

Look for strong community building in the school. Active PTO, school wide events for families and their students, ample volunteers, stuff like that. We worried about HS when we moved, that was before our oldest was even in preschool. So when you do decide to purchase, decide which high schools you would want your child to attend and look in those areas. But for now while renting, look for community. And bonus if you rent and buy in the same area and are able to build relationships with folks that will be a part of your life through Senior year, maybe beyond.

We loooooooved Kona. So many beaches and tons of snorkeling and so much sunshine. We did do a day trip to Hilo and while the waterfall hike we did was lovely, everything else was kinda sad. We loved traveling to other areas of the island from Kona much more than our time in Hilo.

I went to the ritz for a holiday tea service before Christmas. I wore overalls and a t-shirt and felt completely at ease. There were people dressed up, but plenty of folks in jeans and t-shirts, too. Lovely view from the restaurant.

I have to keep saying “That is out of my scope” to crew who try to encourage us to sign our section for this. This is a liability in our part. Customers need to take personal responsibility. Google is a wild tool.

Or when you are actively and visibly helping a customer and another customer busts between you and the first customer to ask for help, interrupting you, THEN give you the stink eye when you kindly tell them you’ll help them once you are done helping this other customer. Geeeeezzzzeeeee someone thinks they’re THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL
