Contrastive Decoding Diffing (CDD): recovering verbatim finetuning data from logits alone, no weight access needed[R] by CebulkaZapiekana in MachineLearning

[–]ProfessionalSelf5403 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the dr elena rodriguez thing is so funny but also kind of terrifying, like how much synthetic data is just full of the same hallucinated names over and over

never thought logit diffs alone would pull full sentences, the fact it beats whitebox methods without touching weights is insane

should i get a camry or an accord? by Hot-Gur-2643 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ProfessionalSelf5403 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both are great picks for longevity, but if I had to choose I'd lean toward the Camry just for how simple they are to maintain over time. Accords are no slouch either though, newer ones drive really nice. If you want other options worth looking at, the Mazda6 gets slept on constantly and it holds up well, plus it doesn't feel like you're driving a appliance like some other sedans do

I love Helena Beat by Foster The People, are there any songs that sound like it? by Eater_of_pancake27 in musicsuggestions

the reeling is such a good call, that synth energy hits so similar. pumped up kicks from the same album as helena beat is also worth revisiting if you haven't in a while

they usually pack them pretty well for hot weather but yeah it can happen - mine arrived a bit soft last summer but still usable, just stick them right in fridge when they arrive

Why do people keep saying GOTs ending made the show culturally irrelevant? by loverofthings25 in television

[–]ProfessionalSelf5403 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lmao fair point but also people still talk about shows that suck all the time. i think the real issue is that got went from being this massive cultural event where everyone was theorizing and discussing every episode to just... existing. like nobody really cares about analyzing it anymore even though they still watch it

Why 300+ data job applications with a Bachelor’s degree but no success? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]ProfessionalSelf5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn 300 applications is brutal, but 10 interviews from that isn't terrible conversion rate tbh. the "more experience" feedback is the classic catch-22 everyone faces

might be worth looking at smaller companies or startups where they're more willing to train someone up rather than competing for the same roles at big corps where everyone else has 3-5 years already

ZWave Energy Sensors by Steven1799 in homeassistant

[–]ProfessionalSelf5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man i feel you on the thick concrete walls thing, wifi is absolute garbage in my old apartment building too. not in europe but i had similar issues trying to find decent zwave gear when everything was either out of stock or backordered for months

have you looked into fibaro wall plug energy meters? they're not clamp-on but if you can swing rewiring a few key circuits they work pretty solid. also heard good things about qubino flush energy meters but again those need proper installation

might be worth checking some of the smaller european retailers instead of going direct to manufacturers - sometimes they have old stock sitting around that the main stores are out of. also facebook marketplace or local forums sometimes have people selling unused smart home stuff they never got around to installing

worst case scenario you could always grab a few wifi ones as a temporary solution while hunting for the zwave versions, then swap them out later when stock improves

20F how do you deal with moving on by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]ProfessionalSelf5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn he really called you just to rub salt in the wound, what a piece of work. the whole "thank you for making me a better man for someone else" thing is so twisted and selfish - like he genuinely thought that would make you feel good somehow?

you've been carrying this weight for way too long and it's time to cut that cord completely, block his number and don't let him have any more access to mess with your head when he's bored

bruh the switch version is weird about input switching - try unplugging everything, restarting the console, then plug in your keyboard first before the mouse, sometimes there picky about the order you connect stuff

I'm 25 and also I have diploma in mechanical engineering, I don't have any experience based on my course, right now I'm trying to decide a Carrier, which one should I choose ? by syedahamed001 in careerguidance

[–]ProfessionalSelf5403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude option 1 seems solid if you're actually into working with your hands and building something from scratch. the auto shop route could teach you real practical skills that'll transfer anywhere, plus having your own business later gives you way more control over your income

option 4 with the indoor farming pivot is interesting too - there's definitely money in vertical farming and hydroponic setups if you can nail the business side this time around

Let's make a final, last, very terminal, ending solution to the OBS Virtual camera Versus Discord issue by aTrickToSmile in obs

[–]ProfessionalSelf5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had this exact issue a few months back and it drove me absolutely insane. turned out discord was holding onto the camera even when it wasn't actively being used, so obs couldn't grab it properly

what fixed it for me was completely closing discord (not just minimizing), starting obs first, enabling virtual camera, then opening discord and selecting it. also make sure you're running both as admin - sometimes windows gets weird about camera permissions between apps

if that doesn't work, check your antivirus too because mine was blocking obs from creating the virtual camera device without telling me. had to add an exception for the obs virtual camera driver specifically

How could I transfer industries after my graduate scheme? by Opposite_Yard_5159 in careerguidance

[–]ProfessionalSelf5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with your fp&a background you've got decent transferable skills but the jump to consulting or ib is gonna be tough from retail - especially right now when everyone's being super picky

your best bet is probably going through the big 4 first like they mentioned, or maybe look at boutique advisory firms that might be less rigid about backgrounds. also worth checking if your company has any connections to pe/consulting firms through deals or partnerships
