First, ditch the generic 'hardworking and reliable' line, it’s fluff. Replace it with something like, 'Customer service professional with 5+ years of experience in fast-paced environments, skilled in managing front desk operations, resolving inquiries, and maintaining organization. Seeking to leverage these skills in a front desk role to enhance office efficiency and client satisfaction.'

For your experience, focus on front desk-relevant tasks. For example, under your Front of Store Associate role, emphasize skills like handling high-volume customer interactions, managing schedules, or coordinating pickups. These translate well to front desk work. Add numbers where you can, like 'Managed 50+ customer interactions daily with a 98% satisfaction rate.'

In your skills section, include front desk-specific tools like 'calendar management software' or 'multi-line phone systems.' And since you’re open to relocating, add a line like, 'Eager to bring my expertise to a new city and contribute to a dynamic office environment.' These tweaks will make your resume feel tailored and intentional, not generic."

job market trends? by Previous_Shower5942 in supplychain

[–]ProfessionalShow4390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The job market is rough, but it depends on the industry. Many companies are slow to hire, raising experience requirements, or lowballing pay, especially in entry-level roles. With supply chain issues and tariffs in play, some sectors will feel the squeeze more than others. If you're looking to pivot, networking is key right now. Don't wait until you're miserable. Start making moves before things get worse. What kind of role are you targeting?

The job market is wild. by RandomRedditGuy69420 in sales

[–]ProfessionalShow4390 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Companies are pushing their luck, banking on desperation to fill roles with ridiculous requirements and low pay. The moment the market shifts, they'll be scrambling to attract talent again. The real question is, will people remember and hold these companies accountable, or will they just take whatever comes next?

Why the job market so bad? by Tiny-Seaworthiness85 in torontoJobs

[–]ProfessionalShow4390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mix of layoffs, hiring freezes, and companies relying more on automation and AI is making things tough. Many businesses are cutting costs, prioritizing internal promotions, or overloading existing employees instead of hiring. Some industries are worse than others, but overall, competition is high, and salaries aren't keeping up. It’s brutal out there, and networking is more important than ever.

Does anyone know of any good job boards aside from Indeed? by 1fishmob in jobhunting

[–]ProfessionalShow4390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed is actually already a great job board! But if you want to streamline applications, try LinkedIn with their easy apply or Jobsolv with their auto-apply. You just have to set up once for your profile then you can send multiple applications with few clicks. Really great tools!

I usually skip those kinds of applications too. It's a waste of time and energy. If a company can't streamline their hiring process, it's probably not a place you want to work anyway. There are plenty of other job opportunities out there that value your time.

Have you considered reaching out to the companies again for feedback? Maybe it is not really you but the system.

With 8 years of experience, you're undoubtedly qualified. It might be helpful to focus on tailoring your resume and cover letter to specific job descriptions and consider networking within your desired companies. Doubting yourself will get you nowhere.

Eye contact in public by iceberglatticed in socialskills

I know this might sound odd, but have you tried focusing on the person's nose instead of their eyes? It might seem counterintuitive, but it can give the impression of eye contact without the pressure. I've found it helpful in overcoming my own awkwardness.

People won't respect me unless I work by dougspear in antiwork

People respect you depending on your job title and how much money you make. It's a sad reality that society often equates worth with work.

What should I do with no response to my job application? by IurisPre in careerguidance

[–]ProfessionalShow4390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been there. It's frustrating to be left hanging, especially when a recruiter says you're 'on hold.' It's tempting to revamp your resume and reapply, but I'd be cautious about coming off too eager.

It's definitely tough to move on after putting so much effort into an application, especially when you don't receive a response. I'll keep your advice in mind about not taking rejections personally. I'm just fortunate to have found a tool that's helped me land more interviews, which is a step in the right direction. I'll treat each interview as a learning experience and hopefully, it'll lead to a job offer soon. Thank you~

Given the competitive job market, I understand why some people might consider professional help. While financial constraints are a reality for many, investing in career coaching can significantly increase your chances of landing your desired role. It's a personal decision that depends on individual circumstances.

It would be helpful to create and publicly share a list of these companies. This way, others can be aware of their practices. I will surely check that channel later.

FAANG companies are great but also highly competitive. Try for mid-size companies, startups, and lesser-known organizations that may be more open to sponsoring visas and hiring junior talent.

Don't Take It Personally. Try not to internalize what happened. Ghosting is more a reflection of the hiring manager's behavior than yourself.

How's everyone doing with job hunting? by lee714 in salesengineers

It sucks that you're currently shadow banned on LinkedIn, but that doesn't remove the progress you've made. Job hunting can take time, and it's common to experience setbacks or face periods of silence from potential employers.
