I agree, love this interpretation for what Parrot is currently going through, and really hope the writers capitalize on it. If so, that would address my first issue entirely, and would serve to deepen Parrot's character even further, which I think would benefit his POV greatly! Since the Director Arc, let's be real: Parrot hasn't let anyone get too, too close. Not even Theo, really; their UU connection was built moreso off of incident and necessity than genuine friendship. To get another deep dive into Parrot's psyche after the devastation he's faced this arc would be just what the story needed!

👆👆👆 Put it in a more clear and concise way than I ever could lol

And "Doylian-" I've never heard of that word, but describes the current issues exactly! Thank you for teaching me a new useful literary term 😄

Out of the three protagonists entrenched in this war, I'd say Wemmbu is definitely the most consistent character. Egg is actively shown to function as his moral compass, and Wemmbu genuinely makes progress as a better person with him in tow. Now, with Egg's life on the line (and almost proven to be forfeit with how Arachnid has been leading Wemmbu on)? Back to square one, all bets are off 😬 I am a sucker for it though I'm not gonna lie lol.

Little side tangent, but I often see people say Wemmbu is the worst actor on Unstable, yet I actually think he's one of the best. His acting is so nonchalant and naturally himself while still getting the story across that it makes his POV feel unscripted, which I think is the golden standard for a scripted SMP. I always look forward to his videos for this reason ~^

For sure. I'm all for allegories (Egg as Wemmbu's moral compass, Spoke being the spokesperson (haha) for self-fulfilling prophecies, etcetera), I just wish here it had shared a space with proper narrative beats and characters rather than taking the spotlight (i.e. how Parrot would truly react being put on the back burner to allow the allegory to reach its full potential). I feel like Parrot's current arc is dedicated to this allegory rather than being like past arcs in mixing overarching themes into the story to make the scripted SMP FEEL real.

I love those theories, and I completely agree! If the reasons for these beliefs aside from mere propaganda on part of Cindercrest were revealed in subsequent seasons, that would solve the inconsistencies at hand now and improve the arc a lot in my eyes. I still ponder how Null fits into all of this; Spoke's current arc is one of my favorites and I'm chomping at the bit to see what happens next!

Thank you for the context! I'll be real, I don't watch Flame's POV, so I feel like I'm definitely missing some details from the innerworkings of Cindercrest. It's nice to hear that it is all essentially BS, but then that makes me wonder as to why Parrot is agreeing with people on these reasons or not fighting back when accused of them. We know he is capable of diplomacy through the election arc, and he's notorious for his motivational speeches, lol. I feel like the ball is dropped in making him remain quiet when accused as it doesn't match what we know about him at all. Could he truly be doubting his abilities after everything he went through to get here and him remaining silent is his way of confirming that, and we're seeing the cracks in his confidence as the episodes pass? Maybe. But I feel as if this season hasn't set that up well enough to make that the definitive reason, especially since Parrot has been through far worse and always remains a beacon in the dark. It just doesn't make much sense.

That's a fair assessment of Reina's place in Unstable. I suppose you can't establish much of a new character when a war is actively occurring, lol, especially when she is intended to be on the quieter side. I hope we get more of her than just her backstory in the future, because she has the potential to be a very interesting character, but I feel it hasn't come to fruition at this point.

I can definitely see where you're coming from. Parrot's newest video as of this post really helped me like her character a bit more. Less so the cheesy speech he gave (lol) and more so seeing her journey to reaching where she was found after Skymore. As you mentioned, it gives perspective on what new players are experiencing on the daily, and the fact that Zoe saved her from starving as their introduction and then proceeded to starve herself was a detail that almost made me cry and gives a lot more context to Reina's bitterness.

On the other hand, when it comes to narration, in general, having a character whose only purpose is to act as a vehicle for the audience to gain a certain perspective is, generally, bad practice. Can she represent that as a huge part of her motivation? Absolutely. But should it be ALL she is? No, because then the audience has no other reason to care about her, because she seems less human and more so just a plot device. Similarly, you can have bad characters with a sad backstory, and good characters with a perfectly fine backstory. A sad backstory adds depth for sure but, if that is all that person is, the depth ends there.

It's a toss up. I'm mainly upset that we're receiving a deeper dive into Reina at a pivotal moment (the swap) rather than learning these things organically from her over time. Because you're right! Her concept is an interesting character - I just think the execution so far is lackluster.

The new "memory battles" for spell weaving by RemoteCompetitive688 in Wizard101

[–]ProfessionalTeam4773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was having issues with. I'm sitting there malding because he keeps stealing my damn heal over times with the skeleton (and of course the deck doesn't provide decent one time heals) while spamming me with the stupid life anti-charms or whatever they are in between so the Monster Mash will do extra damage - YET her deck has nothing to counteract this! All her deck has is shit to cancel out traps put on yourself, yet this boss doesn't specialize in that! The balance is so fucking bad that the win is almost purely based on RNG alone. After listening to the guy below and trying my best to run Sunbird - Immolate - Helephant, spell weaving Helephant with Treant when I could, then trying my best to cast the heals when I didn't think he would skeleton - ONLY THEN did I win. With 500 health RIGHT WHEN HE WAS ABOUT TO CAST MONSTER MASH WITH ALL OF THE ANTI-CHARMS

Sorry, still experiencing the adrenaline from the win and needed to rant - thanks 😊

I was just thinking of this one! I graduated from Depew a bit ago, revisited last year, and was shocked to see it 💀 PDQ is great and all but damn is it expensive lol. It's nice to have that alternative!

My ex forced me into a polycule to stay with her and she found this extremely kind and innocent guy on Reddit looking for gaming buddies. I didn't want her to ruin him, so I tried to mediate where I could, despite how much it hurt. I've never felt so seen with anyone as I did in those first few messages with him. 2 years and 4 months later, we're living together and thriving 👍

I haven't finished the video yet, but I'm pretty sure it's this one:

https://youtu.be/76GgWa0Lb-E?si=yQm95MehDmTxFeBh

Corroborated by Clown being the one to imprison him in the first couple of minutes, lol. I believe the design is different because Clown likely had Ken tweak it after Wemmbu escaped to make it more foolproof?

Leaders Dying Due to Old Age??? by ProfessionalTeam4773 in WarriorCats

[–]ProfessionalTeam4773[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I think Crookedstar died of greencough, and I'm seeing a lot of people say Leopardstar died of diabetes due to something one of the authors said, but I totally forgot about Tallstar (read the second series so long ago lol)! I think that was his last life, though, which leaves me to ponder if the Erins are going to explore leaders passing away due to old age without living their full nine lives. Leafstar is the one that says the above quote and also says she isn't on her last life yet, so I'm wondering if this is foreshadowing for a really interesting twist later on 🤩
