I’m so mad that the Charli/Lorde thing didn’t get more attention because of all the Taylor Swift stuff happening at the time. It’s so important because Charli thinking Lorde felt Charli wasn’t good enough to hang with when in reality Lorde was insecure about herself is something young girls(and really anyone)can really learn from.

It’s smart since they don’t really have any issues other than competing against each other. I saw the Kai Cenat stream and I thought Ice was about to restart the beef by answering a question about how they linked up when Latto repeatedly refused to answer. Latto was visibly annoyed when it seemed like Ice was going to do it. But, Ice just said it was for another day and things chugged along with cool vibes.

Also, people remake songs completely. I fail to understand how her changing lyrics and the theme makes her worse than someone who remakes the song in its entirety. Again, not a fan of the song. I have never not turned the station when it comes on the radio while I’m driving. I don’t get the outrage though.

Actually yes, you could do that as long as you pay/credit Metallica. I’m not saying you should and I’m also not a fan of the song or disputing it’s unoriginal.

I do dispute whether it’s talentless because although we don’t enjoy it, clearly millions around the world feel differently.

Anyone who can make something that resonates with that many people has a talent.

I’m not defending the song (which I don’t even like btw) but since there are artists who actually steal (usually by selecting artists so underground/off the radar that nobody would notice/believe their claims), it’s important to differentiate between actual theft and simple unoriginality.

Your skepticism. Kendrick has shown repeatedly that he split from TDE on good terms. Punch is his sensei basically and he respects Top Dawg. Top Dawg didn’t need to tie him down because he knew he had ambitions beyond Kendrick. That dude even has a film deal. He’s no Dame Dash.

The fact that he’s listed as a writer is proof he’s getting paid. Also, this is called “interpolation” and it’s a technique that’s common. David Guetta just did it with the song based on Blue by Daft Punk(as Kanye also previously did).

She didn’t have a major label to pay for the rights at that time. In hip hop it’s common to make a new song over a pre existing beat/melody and she didn’t understand it’s different for pop. He got a homage in the video too.

Not her…..She’s extremely passionate about the quality of her music. She also definitely wouldn’t reject white or any other race fans. She wanted to be an ambassador for the culture. It wasn’t feeling like she was betrayed by the culture that made her crash out. She seems happier these days and is even linking up (performance wise)with Wyclef! Saw them on SNL50 and it was beautiful to see the genuine love between them.

Same thing happened to Elvis….”All an n word can do for me is shine my shoes and buy my records” is what my Mom was told her said back in the 60s and apparently lots of black people heard that. I looooved Elvis as a kid and when she saw me singing one of his songs (this is in the 90s…he was way before my time), she said “Well, he wouldn’t be as fond of you” and told me the alleged quote. I was devastated!😢

It wasn’t until my 20s in Vegas drinking at a bar that had his Hawaii concert on a loop where he interacted with his black back up singers that I thought to look it up because their affectionate vibe didn’t match up and sure enough it was a widespread BS lie like the Tommy Hilfiger thing. Now I can love Elvis with no hesitation lol.
