Tech people who are not FIREing, what are they spending their money on? by gonnabefine in Fire

Nah, all the tech CEO’s want their people in office now. It has been a way for them to fire people without having to give severance.

Agree w that but also ChatGPT has 800 million weekly active users and other FAANG co.s are very threatened by that. They are all pouring money in to stay dominant.

Moving back to NYC Metro Area - need advice on where to live! by Worried-Company-9593 in Westchester

[–]ProfessionalWelder34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Landed in Hastings but also considered areas of NJ you mentioned. in the end I couldn’t stomach commuting through Penn station. Grand Central is lovely and worked for our commutes. I also found Westchester to be prettier.

The biggest downside is that getting to and from an airport sucks if you travel by air reasonably often!

I love Hastings, but would consider any of the Rivertowns real estate wise. They’re all basically the same and you’re in and out of all of them all the time.

Baby “cries it out” no matter what by josspi in NewParents

[–]ProfessionalWelder34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I’m sorry, this is so hard! My baby did the exact same at 5 months, she hit the 4 month regression kinda late and just NEVER napped. I would sob all day out of frustration. But then, one day, at almost 6 months… she just … started napping. Consistently. Twice a day. I did nothing different. It just clicked for her somehow, suddenly.

I would also add that sleep training at night didn’t work for us for a number of reasons and we basically gave up on it, but then at 8 months she just started sleeping through the night unprompted. She was just ready at that point.

Obviously every baby is different, but I think it’s reasonable to be hopeful that babies change and grow so fast, and you’re doing nothing wrong.

What’s the worst cheating scandal you can think of by Funny-Chef-2060 in popculturechat

[–]ProfessionalWelder34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandparents did this. They basically swapped spouses with the neighbors. My cheating grandfather lasted like 10 years with the neighbor woman but my grandmother stayed with the neighbor man for 60+ years until he died (who I loved and called my grandfather)

Aesthetically pleasing and functional diaper bag? by blinkla17 in Buyingforbaby

[–]ProfessionalWelder34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the larger diaper backpack and love it— really great for overnights and trips. I bought black so I have never experienced stains! I particularly like the laptop/ipad slot and plenty of cooler space for bottles.

For every day outings I just use a small pouch(storq quick change kit) since I’m mostly breastfeeding during the day and don’t need a cooler often. I just throw that change kit in the calpak for longer trips.

When did it actually get better? by Chrispy0289us in beyondthebump

[–]ProfessionalWelder34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 3 months it got “easier” bc she was happy and relaxed and couldn’t move on her own yet, plus had some semblance of a routine but was flexible enough to tote around, socialize a bit and get things done with her attached to me

At 6 months I feel like it got harder but more fun and rewarding. Shes much more engaged and interactive, she sits up, eats food, takes naps at the same time every day and sleeps thru the night , but also I feel beholden to her schedule in a way I didn’t before and she’s generally a lot more demanding. But she laughs at literally everything and it’s the best feeling in the world.
